How do I build muscles?!

Question: I'm a pretty scrawny thing. My friends laugh at me and call me puny..

For once, I want to prove them wrong..

I've been doing 100 sit ups a night and 100 or more reps with 10 lbs (it's all I have, but it adds up. And my arms are always sore in the morning so it should be working.)

I want a 6 pack and I want to have those MySpace pics where I can lift my shirt up and people comment with "wooo hotty" etc.

I've always wanted to really. Plus, I'm pretty skinny.

How should I work out to build up my torso and my arms, and get a 6 pack? :D Also, what kinds of things should I be eating to make sure I'm not so bony..

I'm ashamed of myself. :x

I own a health and nutrition business and have taught fitness. I've also owned two schools of martial arts.
First of all, sit ups really don't do much. Doing crunches for the upper and lower abs, as well as diagonal crunches, will be far more likely to give you the six pack you want. I'll let someone else tell you how to build up the arms and torso - that is more detailed than I want to go into here. I will tell you this, though: High amounts of reps are not as likely to build bulk as lower amounts of reps with more weight. High reps tend to build longer, leaner muscles. Lower your reps and add more weight. You may have to find something that you can fill with water or sand to make up the weight, but find some way to add weight. Check yard sales. You can find lots of places to buy weights for just pennies at yard sales. Follow a regimen where you do a long workout on one day, and a short workout the next day. This will give your muscles a chance to recover, work out the lactic acid, and start building more muscle.
Make sure you do plenty of stretching after each workout. This will also work out the lactic acid and decrease the soreness.
A diet high in protein, as well as high in vegetables and fruits, and lower in fat, will help - as well as eating often. Make sure and add a good quality nutritional supplement program so that your body has the maximum ability to not only recover, but build itself. Unless otherwise directed, always take your supplements with food - never on an empty stomach.
Adding protein shakes also should help. Keep hydrated.
And stay consistent. Whatever you do, don't get inconsistent, or you will end up injured.
Hope this helps!

You need to up your calorie intake and try drinking protein shakes to help build muscle! Good luck!

At some point, you're going to have to lift something heavier than what you're doing right now.

well, if you want bigger muscles than you have to lift heavier wieghts with less repititions, low wieghts and light wieghts will only give you tone not size. you have to eat a lot more and eat protien, which is what rebuilds muscle, here's what happens when you lift your muscle tears and then it rebuilds bigger and stronger, protien rebuilds and repears the body so protien is probably the most important thing, eat a lot of carbs too for energy be smart about it

Well... I only do 60 sit ups and lie on floor horizontally and putting hands in back of my head and lifting both my feet 6 inch off the ground/80 pushups/ and lift my 30 lb dumbell 20 times a day already for 2-3 months and i have 12.5 inch biceps and almost 6 pack (last two are almost forming)

Eating isn't really a problem to me... because i eat cup noodles a lot XD and rice

You should lift heavier weights if you can get them because lifting heavy weights with less reps is good for building muscle and less weight and more reps if for burning fat and toning muscle. I hear you should lift weights before you eat so instead of burning fat, you are gaining muscle. You need protein so you can build and add muscle mass.

You should try to eat a lot of protein in your diet. Try to go for twice you weight in grams so if you are 120 pounds eat 240 grams of protein in a day.(or 120 grams as the bare minimum). Protein shakes are an option to. Chicken and rice is a good choice too. Eat alot of calories too but try to stick to the kind that doesn't come from fat but a mixture of the two is good also. Make you have enough vitamins and minerals too for growth.

i did this kind of stuff and went from 100 to 117 pounds & i dont look fat
gooooodluck! email me if u need more info

go work out!
