What do you use to measure jogging distance?!

Question: The person who taught me to run was a world class marathon runner and duathlete, who was trained by the great Peyton Jordon. He taught me that you should always go by time, rather than by distance.
That said, I still like to measure the distances that I have been running. I do this by driving my route and measuring by the car odometer. I don't use a pedometer because of too many changes in my stride due to changes in running conditions so find it to be inaccurate in measuring my distances.

I use the car odometer. If your jogging any distance, the difference will be inconsequential.

The main roads in my city are all about a mile apart, so I just stay on them and estimate my distance by that.

I can't jog or run because I have a really bad back, so I'm going to leave this one to the ones that can jog and run to answer.

My teenage son is in high school Athletics, but I have no idea what they use to measure their running or jogging distance. Perhaps it's
from one goal post to the other goal post, the coaches whistle or until the coach says they can stop running (many times this is given as a type of punishment, but those boys have to hold a tire over their head while they are running when they get into trouble.)
;)

An horizontal bangometer - how's that for grammar then?

oty

I use time...not to figure the distance, but to the amount of 'time' I have to do it.
