A UK Size 16 to a UK Size 12; how long would it take?!

Question: I'm 5'8'', and am a UK Size 16. I want to lose weight once and for all, and ideally would be a Size 12, however I would like to know how much time it would take, on average. I have a family wedding in May, and would love to look pretty in the photos! I don't know my weight, but my doctor does and will assess it monthly to help me, so I understand that might make my question harder to answer! But I just wondered if anyone had a rough idea. Because I've finally been diagnosed as having IBS after 6 years of abdominal pain, I've been put on the 'Weetabix' diet which is a balanced diet that replaces junk food with fruit and veg and limits the amount of dairy and excess fat to avoid antagonising the IBS; coupled with some regular exercise, it is a pretty good regime. So... anyone have any ideas?

My Susan is on the Rosemary Conley programme to take her down from a size 16. I can't see the need, as she is lovely and sexy as she is (5'4" tall 36D) but I am supporting her in her aims as it will make her happier. What I am saying is you can look lovely as a size 16, especially at your height.

Nevertheless, the most important thing is that healthy eating goes hand in hand with exercise, so get on your bike and in the pool. I am supporting Susan but this has a knock on effect with me, too. You can teach your body to burn up calories much easier than just starving it. Susan works at the hospital as a cardiogrpaher so she has asked doctors for their advice and they have said she should not lose more than an average 3lbs of weight in an week.

Good luck. You'll feel in control, and that's what will be best for you. If you're hungry tinned plum tomatoes on unbuttered wholegrain toast with mushrooms fried in a little water in a shallow pan is a superb hunger buster and no fat to speak of.

Morrisons do a great malted wholegrain loaf that's only 77 calories a slice and their Weight Watchers reduced calorie baked beans are only 23p a tin. Special K cereal is only
