How long before I can be around alcohol again?!

Question: I gave up alcohol and cigarettes two weeks ago. So far, I haven't allowed myself to go anywhere where I will encounter either one being consumed. It wasn't that hard to give up because I'm really committed to it and am very stubborn about achieving my goals. What I wonder, though, is what is a sufficient amount of time to wait before allowing myself to go out to nice restaurants, etc., again where other people at my party may be drinking and/or smoking? How long before it's no longer tempting? BTW...I'm not a full-blown alcoholic, but I could see it in my future if I kept up my pace. That's why I stopped.

Go out when you feel comfortable with yourself...and dont drink if you get the desire to when your out leave...think of you cause you will have people that say come on just one cause they cant stop....when you get a craving for something pray...if not god to yourself or your higher power as you know him..."""one is to many and a thousand is not enough"""

When I quit smoking I waited 1 month before I drank a coffee or alcohol. Wait 2 more weeks and see how it goes.

congratulations...you did something not easy to do at all...alcohol and smoking is everywhere you go, if you have decided to quit and have made it this long you gotta get back into the stream of life you beat that stuff, hold your head high and be proud of that and remember where you been and dont wanna go back to anytime the urge or temptation strikes you will be ok i wouldnt suggest going to parties or something like that just yet, but food places and stuff you gotta go sooner or later its all in your mind-set, and you have done the hardest part which was to quit to begin with....again hats off to you

Make your will power strong and go ahead with party and you will be winner on alcohol.

no one can answer that question for you. if you know you should quit , chances are something has happened that indicates a problem. Think about it , if you have to hide from the presence of alcohol to keep from drinking, you may be more of an alcoholic than you think . don't get me wrong, it 's a good sign that you don't crave just because it's not in view.

if thats the case than it should be easier to quit now rather than later. good luck !

Do it when you feel ready, when i stopped smoking i stopped for 2 weeks then people didn't bother me with smoking, although there will be times when you feel you will wanna go back onto drink and cigs, but just kick it! xo

Don't give it up. My father told me never to be a quitter....
