Is this a good weight?!


Question: I'm 14 years old and I weight 81 pounds.
I am 5 foot 3 inches tall.
By no means am I anorexic or bulemic.
I eat 3 meals a day, that consist of healthy food for the most part.
I am a cheerleader, a dancer, and I run track.
I have cheerleading 4-5 days a week for 2 hours.
I have dance 5 days a week for 2 hours.
I don't really have much muscle.
My hip bones and my ribs show A LITTLE.
I am very happy with the way I look and I think I'm pretty healthy.

Do you think I am too underweight?
If so, what can I do to gain a little weight in a healthy way? Don't say like eat junk food, because that is bad for you...
Or is my weight good because I'm so active??

well, i dont know how old all of those people are that just answered, but i actually am 14 (and a girl) and i am in ninth grade.
now, i weigh 89/90 pounds. im pretty skinny too & i am just like you except im not a cheerleader anymore but i still run around my neighborhood at night (its 1.2 miles) & im very happy with how i look. and im healthy and you sound healthy too. it just has to do with your fast metabolism and how much that your exercising. if your happy with how you look, then dont sweat it, maybe you just werent meant to be fat(:

no u should be WAY more than 81 pounds! i have friends in grade 4 who weigh more than you! That i deffinatly a health hazard! Ypu should be between 110-120 at 14!

You are very active and young so you are going to be thin. there is nothing wrong with your weight. As you get older your metabloism may slow a little bit and you may end up filling out some more.

Yes, you are underweight. I would say at least twenty pounds underweight... The best suggestion is to see your doctor and ask her/him what some healthy ways of gaining weight would be. Obviously it is not healthy to start eating a gallon of ice cream every day, you'd gain weight for sure, but the fat and cholesterol would kill you. See your doctor, or ask one of your coaches for advice.

You should weigh a little more. It is good you are this physical, but you should try eating some more protein foods such as meat. Don't be worried about eating fat, but definitely don't try and eat fat to fix your problem! Healthy high calorie meals are the solution to this. Also don't forget your carbohydrates because you are so active, you will need them.
