What types of warm-up can I do before I get on the treadmill for 60 min.?!

Question: So, I'm a first year college student with a New Year's resolution to start exercising.

I was advised that 60 minutes everyday of a cardio exercise is enough.

Therefore, I am thinking of going to the gym tomorrow and running on the treadmill for 60 minutes. I probably won't get bored since there's a mini television attached to the machine.

I was wondering, is 60 minutes on the treadmill too much? Or should I switch to another type of exercise 30 minutes into the workout? In addition, what type of warm ups can I do before I start doing all this?

Thanks. =]

You should start off with 30 minutes.

Here's what I do:
Stretch for at least 15 minutes - especially legs, but stretch EVERYTHING!
Go on treadmill for 35 minutes - slow at first, then work your way up the first 5minutes.
I always "cool down" by doing the bike for 10-15 minutes afterward.
Then, stretch after the workout too, for at least 10 minutes, and maybe do some crunches or free weight stuff at the end, with small, like 3-5 pound weights.

This is what I do 5-6 days a week, and I am NEVER sore, plus my flexibilty has improved so much the past few months. It also really relaxing to do the stretching, and depending on how fast you run,you can burn upwards of 450 or more calories in the 45 minutes you are doing the cardio, not including what you burn from stretching, etc.

Hope this helps!
