How can I gain muscle without going to a gym?!


Question: I'd like to bulk up, or at least get stronger without bulking up physically, but without having to go to the gym. I have a rowing machine and treadmill in the house, but I tend to get VERY bored while using them and would much prefer another way of building muscle. Are there any exercises you can do within your room, without having to purchase any equipment? Obviously I can do push ups, sit ups, etc, but I was wondering if anything else would help.

In order to stimulate muscle growth, you need to overload it. Conventional wisdom is to take your specific muscle to momentary failure within no more than 12 repetitions of a particular movement. So, if you can do pressups until the cows come home, there's no way you'll stimulate any further muscle growth. You need to add some weight.

A backpack full of bricks.

This is also useful for squats too.

You can gain muscle without any equipment at all, doing push-ups, sit-ups, or what have you; what is at stake by not using weights or having at trainer @ the gym is time.

You'll bulk up a lot slower on your own without weights to challenge and stimulate growth.
Good luck with whatever you chose to do - eat/drink tons of protein, whichever workout methods you chose!

try do different press ups like one arm or triangular ones, where you put ya thumb touching each other and forefinger touching each other. try chin ups or squeeze a tennis ball

yeah get 2 chairs and do pushs up on them lol it will build your chest sholders and arms up and put 1 hand on another hand and push upwards 10 times till it hurts then the other arm lol that will build your arms up

What I like to do is play music- iPod, radio, TV, etc- and just dance like a maniac for a while. Its fun, and not embarassing if you do it behind closed doors (haha). It tends to help you build muscle in your legs, arms, and sometimes ab areas, depending on what kind of dancing you're doing.

Take anabolic steroids; shots of testosterone will take care of your muscles.
