Cardio is an excellent may to burn calories.
Tricks that I use to lose weight:
Watch/significantly reduce carbs - breads, pastas, potatoes.
Understand that different people lose weight at different rates.
Why? I'll discuss later...
Burn more calories than you ingest. Pretty simple.
My workout routine begins with cardio (bike, treadmill etc..), I'm NOT looking at mileage or time, but calories burned. I target 400-650 calories as my personal goal.
I follow that up by using machines/free weights to target alternating muscles groups (Biceps/triceps/forearm on Monday, Back/neck/shoulders - Wednesday, etc).
I started with 3 evenings a week, and built up to 5.
This, along with a controlled diet has worked for me. I went 3 jeans sized down in less than 2 months.
Oh!, Different people lose weight at different rates - Quickly, the liver stores Glycogen; which the body will seek to burn first before targeting your actual body. Glycogen levels vary immensely between people. Additionally, as you start your diet/workout routine - your body will go into a "shock" since it's not accustomed to this new lifestyle.
**BEWARE**
During this "shock" period every Denny's, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut you drive by will look like the clouds are parting and heavenly rays of sunlight are calling you towards an angelic bliss - YOU MUST FIGHT THIS!
If you vigilantly reduce your carb intake, ketosis will emerge; and glycogen will start being burned. Once your glycogen levels are completely exhausted THEN your body will start feeding from itself. This will happen at a 50/50 rate, meaning it'll burn muscle and fat at the same rate. Hence the importance of continuously rebuilding the muscle tissue with exercise.
P.S. Water, water, water, if you must drink something else go with a 0 carb, 0 calories cola in moderation. There are TONS of them now-a-days!
If you're diabetic, or are unsure of your health status, please see a professional dietician.

oh absolutely, do kickboxing exercises and I assure you, you will lose weight but you must diet as well.join a cardio kickboxing class its easier because you will have support. in my cardio kickboxing class we do stair stepping and work with hand weights we keep moving for a full hour. with a short break in between for water. our instructor is a brute when it comes to getting us in shape but you gotta love her. also give yourself time to lose the weight, don't expect immediate results or you may be dissapointed, instead of saying I want to lose 20 pounds by next week say by next year I hope to lose at least 20 pounds, then with you goal being so far in the distance you won't dwell on it so much and have anxiety over it. be patient with yourself and at the end of the year you will be pleasently surprised when you find that you have lost 50 or 60 pounds instead of 20. pace and patience is the key.

cardio is the best way, especially when matched with a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and veg and water

yes, cardio workouts really do help. when you get your heart rate up well above its resting rate, thats when it starts working. But you can't just get it up there and thats it. You have to keep it constant for 20-30 for it to be effective. Thats why the eliptical or biking or treadmill is great. preferrably the eliptical. but..Doing cardio like that 3-4 times a week will tone you all over your body. so after just a couple work outs you'll notic that you will have that extra couple of pounds of that make you look trimmer and thin. it just helps allover trust me i do it all the time.

Sprinting up and down stairs for long periods is the fastest way to burn calories, therefore the fastest way to burn body fat.
be careful not to injure your self!

yes, it's the best way to lose weight. the trick is to do all forms of cardio and combine that with a healthy diet. that's how you really lose weight.

you want to mix up your cardio so you don't get bored with it and to keep your body guessing. do many types of cardio, such as running, cycling, rope jumping, swimming, heavy bag training, pretty much anything that makes you breathe hard and gets your heart rate up.

when you do more than one type of cardio it makes it so your body doesn't get used to just one thing. forcing your body to constantly try to adapt ensures that you will always be improving and not just staying in one place.

combine your cardio workouts with a healthy diet and you will definitely lose weight.

Cardio is the only way. I do power walks, run on threadmill especially on the highest incline like going hiking, elliptital trainer. I do 30 minutes in each. Good nutrition helps alot too. Kickboxing, karate and such are workouts that burn he most calories but nothing compared to a good jog.
