I wanna loose 30 pounds?!


Question: im starting to work out more, i do mostly cardio, with some weights. at the gym i usually do 2 reps of 5 on all the weight machines. i usually walk/jog a mile with no incline, and then go do weights. what can i do in the gym to loose 30 lbs and what kind of diet should i be eating. once i loose the weight i plan to gain some muscle for snowboarding so i need to tone down and be somewhat lean.

I am not sure if I understand your weight training method there, but maybe I can help you out a little. You should work out with weights first then do cardio. If you work out with weights first your body will use the carbs that you have consumed throughout the day, then you follow that up with cardio your body will use fat as energy. Keep cardio to a 30-40 minute limit because after that your body may use muscle for energy, so you do not want to lose that. Try to stay away from doing overall body workouts also. You should separate and workout different body parts throughout the week. Use less weight, and high reps for tighter and toner muscles. The after a while change it up and get a little heavier to add more strength to your muscle, so do more weight and less reps. Also, consume protein and good carbs / fats throughout the day (5-6 times) to kick up your metabolism, and that in turn will help you loose weight faster and in a healthier way. You can also change up your cardio routine and add in a little incline and pick up the pace for one minute and then back down to a regular pace to get your heart rate up.
