Getting weighed in front of the whole class?!


Question: At my school they make the students get weighed in front of the whole class.... I think that this is plain embarrising.....what are your thoughts

As a parent I think that is very wrong. It can be very humiliating to some students who are overweight, or even underweight. It should not be allowed and I would complain to the school board about it. That would not happen where I live and there would be an outrage if it did. It is against students rights in my opinion. I would check into it with the school board and I would refuse to be weighed in if I were you. If you get a detention then I would complain to the school board and I would be tempted to write a letter to the local paper as to how this school treats it's students. I bet then they will stop. Maybe give the local paper a call. I bet it will be all over the news!! Stick up for your rights and don't let them get away with this. It would be different if it was confidential but if the whole class knows how much you weigh it is wrong.

    who cares, if you are fat then everyone can tell already, if your not - who cares if people know what you weigh.
    just wondering what the purpose of that is. is it like for health records or a science experiment or what? does the teacher announce how much they weigh or something? because if she does i feel that's mean. and if there's no reason for it then i think that's really mean too
    OMG! i agree with you! Thats horrible! oh my it is so embarrassing I don't know why they do that?? really?? can some one explain that to me?
    I absolutely think this is wrong! What someone weighs is their own business and making a public spectacle of a private affair is degrading...unless it's for wrestling club, cuz then everyone in the arena knows your weight category. This school is definitely out of wack and needs to smarten up!!
    Never bothered me. Always had to weigh in naked for wrestling, in front of coaches, teams and whoever else was in the locker room.
