Is This A Good Plan to Lose 20 Pounds?!

Question: I am currently 160lbs. I have always had a high metabolism but as I get older, it's getting harder to keep the weight off. I want to lose at least 20lbs but 30lbs is my max. I also want to get fit.

Here is a typical day I'll be trying on my diet:

1) Breakfast - A glass of high protein slim fast.

2) Exercise for at least half an hour. Cardio one day, specific body part workouts other days. Ab workout everyday.

3) Lunch - Another glass of high protein slim fast.

4) Light dinner - Boneless, fat-free chicken, salad, etc.

Any other suggestions would be great! Thanks.

Sounds good to me. Just make sure you take a multi-vitamin and drink plenty of water.

ya sounds fine

Personally, I say you ask a REAL nutrionist, instead of these random people behind there computers.

But who am I to say that right, im just another one of those people :D

..but yeah. By the looks of it, its good your not doing the "bad" type of dieting.

Running helps, and instead of two High protein shakes have one in the morning and not at lunch, have a PB&J sandwich, also run before you eat breakfast.

more veggies
don't drink all that slim fast. put variety in it. Because you'll get burned out on it.
I'd try whole grain sandwhiches with turkey breast and lettuce and tomato, or something like that for lunch.
and for breakfast, oatmeal with fruit and such. Make sure you drink plenty of water too. Stay away from sugary crap.

I wouldn't do slim fast. The best thing in my opinion is to eat small, healthy meals throughout the day and exercise. Eat more fruits and vegetables, cut out junk food, fast food, and soda--completely. Try to cut out things like bread, and eat more protein. Also, take a protein shake before exercising. I've lost ten pounds in the last month doing this.

Sounds good!
Drinking a glass of water & having an apple 45 minutes before meals can help you feel fuller & not eat as much, if that's a problem for you (although it doesn't sound like it!)

Keep in mind "grazing" can be a good thing. Throughout the day, you never want to feel HUNGRY. So maybe throw in a few snacks between meals -- celery, fruit, whatever you like.

Yea that diet sounds good but also add fruit and water in your diet and also try to excerise for about a hour each day. My hubby did that kind of a diet and lose 12;bs his first month but then the second and third was more like 8 to 6 lbs a month. burn more calories than u eat. Rememeber 3500 calories equals a lb of fat

Sounds really goo, try to add something to the lunch menu, though. maybe a salad.

this is way too little. add some fruit and more veggies into your diet. for breakfast. nothing wrong with that. drink more water. just a slim fast isnt good. and eat several small meals a day. 5-6 meals, very small. a serving is a palm of your hand remember.
Have some nuts and stuff. Those are a good healthy snack if you limit it. not too much.

You body needs more calories or it will crash. Try weight watchers, they show you how to loose weight safely and keep it off. Also include healthy snaks like nuts, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Good Luck!!!

omg- you need to eat something. living off slim fast is not the way to go. you need to change your lifestyle permanently..and slim fast is def not a permanent solution.

I think you're eating too little u should be eating 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism going and so you won't go crazy over it.. you should be eating a diet that you can actually stick with not something temporary because you're bound to gain it all back

No, that is not a good idea at all in losing weight. You are either keeping or increasing your caloric intake with protein which if you are not having an exercise extensive plan such as a marathon runner's you WILL gain weight. Cut your diet's calorie intact by a simple 500 calories and walk about 30 to 40 minutes a day and go about your daily business. All sweets need to be replaced by fruits and snacks need to be replaced by the likes of veggies and grain products like crackers.

Avoid shakes, they are ment for those on heavy exercise regiments.

Workouts sound fine. But, your not eating enough. Eat all your recommended servings in each food group. Space them into 6 small meals a day. If anything, add some snacks in between meals.

stopthe slim fast. i have used it and its horrible in time it willmake you gain. what you do is have 3 balanced meals.
protein, fat, carbl. you can eat toast egg and bacon coffee
sandwhich (thin meat 2) fruit can use sm pice cake, drink no regualr pop, supper potatoe, meat veg salad sweet small. no inter meals eating. the meat has to be broiled (grill mostly) and if you crave sweets after you can hae toast with peanut butter and jelly. that is all. you will lose and take it off and keep it off if you use this deit. meat 3 oz servings and small servings of whatever you eat 1/2 of what you normally do. take care.

Yeah, run laps, low on sugar ( now calories ), espeacially no pop and chips, no slats, no beef, not that much oil, eat half as much as you used to, and RUN LAPS.
Tip, if you eat much drink atleast 5 glasses of water before water before breakfast lunch and dinner, AND DONT DRINK WATER DURING YOUR MEALS OR IMMEDIETLY AFTER YOUR MEALS. \
Tip, while running dont breath from your mouth but breath form your nose only.
Hope this helps

I would definitely eat more. Women who are trying to lose weight should eat a minimum of 1200 calories unless otherwise specified by a doctor. Otherwise you metabolism will slow way down because it thinks your body is starving and it needs to conserve energy. That is why it is important to make sure you are reaching the minimum. Try and eat as much real food as possible. Slim fast tends to have a lot of additives that are not good for you plus a good amount of sugar. A good alternative that is still high in protein is Myoplex Light shakes. You can find this at any GNC or health food store. I would not do more than one meal replacement shake a day or it will be very hard to reach your caloric needs. If you are really wanting to lose weight, I would suggest doing cardio for at least 30 min 4-6 days a week. Cardio will burn more calories than weight training. Weight training will tone you up but if that fat is still over the muscle you may not see much of a difference.

I would try Weight Watchers. It worked for me and several other people I know. I liked it because no food is off limits. Every food just has points value so technically you can still eat all your favorite foods. I also liked that Weight Watchers has the Smart Ones TV Dinners with the points value on the box (good to take to work!) Good luck!

you sound motivated..but listen the best move to do is get off the computer and EXERCISE you fat slob.

oat meals, pineapple juice to detoxify, lots of fruits.

Well, i'm not so sure about slim fast (I don't really drink slim fast personally),but as for the exercising you might want to work on cardio a little more. (Tip: trying specific body part workouts dont always help because they affect other parts of your body which many not help to the specific body part were you wanna loose fat)
I usally don't eat breakfast so you can try that...but if you know or can't help but eat breakfast then dont quite doing that. But try to but those protein shakes or whatever they're called that help you loose weight sometimes when you buy a weight loss DVD. For dinner I would suggest egg-salad only or salad and some low calorie meal that you can find recipies of on the Internet.
