Do you think that this is a pathetic excuse for being overweight/ obese?!

Question: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2008/01/2...

I am not shy about admitting that I am overweight because I EAT TOO MUCH. Why are so many people so pathetically trying to make out that it is not their fault? It is not at all a valid reason IMO.
What do you think?

Totally agree. We always talk about a responsible, caring society, but there's no way that people can ever be responsible for others if they can't even be responsible for themselves. If they don't care enough to do something about it, they deserve what they get. It's like people who think the government should give out free vegetables if they want people to eat healthier. I have actually seen "letters to the editor" in the paper that go along the lines of "the government wants us to eat more veg, so they should force restaurants to give more vegetables without charging more for them."

It's your body, take responsibility for it and stop giving lame excuses that a child would be ashamed of. If you can't spend an extra few minutes on the bus or another dollar for healthier food, you have no chance of losing any weight, none - and you don't deserve to. We should stop pandering to people who won't lift a finger to help themselves and stop dancing around the fact that it's their own fault and they should take the responsibility. If that hurts their feelings, then good, maybe they'll do something about it. I could stand to lose a few, but the reason I haven't is because I haven't made the sacrifices. End of story.

I agree with you. We are responsible for what we put in our mouths. My husband of 2 years has put on over 100 lbs since we got married and let me just say- YUK. Now he whines because I won't let him touch me. EXCUSE ME if I don't want to die underneath a freaking walrus! I'm no skinny minny either, but I do control my weight by not just sticking any old piece of food in my mouth. He whines and complains that he has no idea how he got so fat. I can guess. Lying and sneaking food when he's at work or out and about. And ZERO physical activity. He sits at a computer all day at work and then comes home and sits on his ever expanding *** all night. GET UP! WALK BACK AND FORTH AROUND THE HOUSE AT LEAST! Oh sorry. This was supposed to be about you. Not my life. Got started and couldn't stop. Sorry. You're right, though. There is no excuse for being fat other than you eat too much crap and don't exercise. Have a nice day, eat a carrot and do some jumping jacks. Peace.

Kimber, that seems like an awful way to talk about someone you swore to love for ever and ever. People can gain weight for all kinds of reasons. Stress, depression, age, metabolic problems. My partner has put on some weight since we've been together, but I still love him, I still find him attractive no matter what his body looks like. Maybe there are underlying issues as to why your husband has put on so much weight,- as his partner maybe you should look into it.

Hello!

This is Dr. K

Yes, it's their fault, not mine.
