What is more dangerous - being overweight or being underweight?!


Question: Both have their own dangers in hand.
For someone who is underweight there is a possiblity to become sterile because of loss of menses (periods).
For someone who is overweight there are more difficulties that go in hand with being obese. Diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, circulation problems, breathing problems, and sleep apnea are just a few that go along with this. So, both can have their own dangers, but being obese tends to be a higher degree of danger.

Either extreme is dangerous. Obesity causes diabetes, heart disease, among others.
Anorexia also causes heart problems and kidney problems among others.
A good weight would be normal to maybe five pounds over or under whatever is your healthy weight.

Both are equally dangerous. Anorexia tends to be looked up as more dangerous because anorexics are basically skins and bones. They are malnutrioned. But with the obese- heart disease comes into play. Regardless of someone weighing 90 or 200 lbs (and fits their BMI), the key is to eat health and stay healthy.

One is as bad as the other I suppose..... It's like trying to figure out whether freezing to death is worse than burning to death..

Being overweight is more dangerous due to cardiac complications along with diabetes risk, which causes damage to nerves, eyes, kidneys, etc. Being underweight depends on the reason for being so thin. If it is a genetics, then there is no concern. If it is from starvation then you damage the heart muscle and that can be deadly. Also you need fat for ovulations and for myelin, the thin sheet that coats your nerves for better conduction. Children without proper fat can have severe learning disabilities.

Being underweight is more unhealthy than being slightly overweight, but being obese is just as unhealthy as being underweight.
