I advise you to go and ask your doctor - teenagers usually need more calories at your age, because of the changes taking place in your body. (These changes can also be the reason for putting on a little more weight.) It will also depend on how much overweight you are (if you're overweight at all.)

My son was a little overweight at your age. He gave up sweets, cakes, biscuits, crisps, fizzy drinks, puddings and snacks and has never been overweight since.

When you walk to school, walk as fast as you can. And when you feel less self-conscious, jog to school.

If you cut out rubbish from your diet and do a little more exercise (footie kick around with your mates? ride a bike?) the extra weight should come off more easily.

Best wishes!

1200 - 1500 would be how many you should normally need a day. However, that all depends on your activities. If you are sedentary (sit and watch t.v. or play video games all day) you probably only need 1200. If you play sports or play outside (ride bikes, etc..) then 1500 is probably normal. Just a guesstimate.

just exercise more

A Calorie (cal) is the amount of heat needed to raise on milliliter by one degreed Celsius.

A Kilo Calorie (Kcal) Is a unit of energy equivalent to one thousand calories.

Well 1 (kcal)kilocalorie = 4184 joules which is a measure of energy 1 calorie is 4.184 joules so a kcal is 1000 calories. All your food is actually in kcals, it just says calories for convenience.

There's no specific number of calories anyone should eat, it really depends on the person and their needs and everyone is different. Since you said your trying to cut I assume you are trying to lose weight. If you are trying to lose weight I think more important then the number of calories is where you are getting the calories from and how much your are excercising.
