How do you manage college homework and trying to lose weight/exercising?!

Question: i'm technically "obese" at 5' 1" and 189lbs. and i'm currently going to college full time but all of my time is consumed by doing homework/getting distracted while i try to do homework and then passing out and waking up for my early classes the next day, etc. so I was wondering if anyone had good advice on how to lose weight while still keeping up with my schoolwork? i'm currently counting calories, using SlimFast shakes, and trying to create a calorie deficit of 500 cals. per day to lose about 1lb. per week but i can't seem to get any exercise into my routine since i spend more time than a person should trying to keep myself concentrated on finishing my homework. HELP?!

I was in the same boat, college and a weight problem are two tough battles, especially at the same time.

The best way to incorporate some exercise into your life is to go for a walk once a day, for only 20-30 mins. The best time to do this is when you want a study break, as it will clear your head and give you time to think.

As far as diet goes, the real calorie deficit will come from changing what you eat. I know campus food isn't the best, but you can pick and choose. Try to eat more vegetables, as they will fill you up, give you more energy, and they won't contribute a lot of calories.

And most importantly, if you don't stick to it after a few days or you cheat often, just remember that this is something where you will fail many times before you fully succeed. If you cheat on your diet or miss a day of exercise its no biggie, but remember that its only going to hurt you in the long run so get right back no the horse the next day.

oh yeah and good luck! trying is the first step to succeeding!

get an exercise machine that has a book stand.....you can exercise at a moderate rate while reading the books you need to read....for the writing part you can write while in various stretches!

Go to the gym between classes, or right after you finish your last class of the day. It may cut into your time, but if you are so concerned about your homework, you'll make time for it. What you should really be worried about is your health. Nothing is worth sacrificing your health.

Take your work to the gym. Put the treadmill on, put ur work on the stand in front of you and go! I am doing a science fair project right now about correlation between math test scores and running. The scores go up as the distance you travel goes up. So, hey, exercising is great for brain and body. Good luck!
