WHAT DO I DO? SHOULD I DO THIIS or not?!

Question: Ok. Umm. To lose 1 pound each week, I need to get rid of 500 calories each day right? Ok. Now I want to mix diet and exercise. So divide 500 in half is 250. So I want to burn 250 calories in exercise and reduce 250 in my diet. So I will eat at least 1500 calories each day. Which is a like 50 calories lower (not a lot) than my MBR, So 250 = 250 = 500 calories each day. I will burn 500 calories a day. Is this a good plan? Will this work? I will eat healthy throughout this plan and I will not eat junk food what so ever. I hope I will lose at least 1 pound each week. Is it possible? Please explain.

I think what your trying to do is great. There are 3500 calories in one pound of fat, so losing 500 calories a day will result in losing one ound a week. Its plain and simple. Remember to drink plenty of water and to take a multi-vitamin. This means your body is still getting it nutrition, even if your eating less. Just count the calories on the label on the back of your food, and eliminating the first 250 will be easy. Eating celery actually requires more calories to degest than you get from the celery itself, so eat some of that. For the second 250, try running or jogging. I spend 25 minutes on the treadmill at the gym and burn 250 calories easy. Remember that calories are just a way of measuring stored energy, so the more energy you use, the more calories you are burning. Don't weigh yourself until the end of the week and rememberthat it will be worth it in the end. Hope this helps. Bye.

Sounds awesome. Though some other tips are...eat slower, so you can feel when you're full, eat more veggies fruit and lean meats and cut out fatty foods and junk, then exercise. Also lift weights as added muscle increases metabolism, and lost muscle from dieting will slow your metabolism. Also eat several small meals throughout the day instead of one or two big meals

Ok, but use weights during exercise to burn more calories. Ankle weights while walking is great for burning those extra calories!!

Sounds sound, but you will lose 2-5 pounds right away, then settle into a regimented weight loss of one to two pounds a week.

Be careful though... the 1500 cal. sounds easy on paper, but you will get hit with cravings before too long, no matter HOW much discipline you have...
