I'm 16 and i'm 230 pounds...help?!

Question: I know that muscle weighs more than fat and people around me say that I don't look that fat..just a little baggage. I ask people to guess my weight and they answer around 160-180 pounds. Should I go on a diet? I work out 5 days a week for about 2 hours a day already. What else should I do to lose weight? A fast way.
Thanks!

You're 16...wait it out. Maybe monitor what you eat..maybe less carbs. It's hard to give advice without seeing you and knowing what your intake (calorie-wise) is. You haven't reached your full growing potential as guys mature a little later on..so you just might lose it if you get taller. :)

If you have a muffin top when you put your pants on then yes.

no way
muscle is good

At 16, you need to check with a doctor before doing any type of diet or exercise. I would be very hesitant to tell a 16 year old to go on any type of diet. How tall are you? 230 lbs looks different on someone who is 5'6" than someone who is 6'5".

Stop eating so much? Maybe laxatives? Drink tons of water?

Realistically, just watch what you eat, and re-examine how you work out. Is it really effective for building muscle tone, or just cardio?

Watch your sugars and breads and the weight will drop pretty quickly....

Since you are 16 and still growing, I think you should get your doctor's opinion. But make sure you are getting your cardio in on your workouts and not just weights.

check this....im 17.....im 6'1".........im not fat.....but i weight 350.....all i can say is it must be all in the pants....

How tall are you??? Most NFL linebackers are 6'2 250 but they are all muscle.

Try to start running becasue if you are 16 then the weight will drop off very very rapidly. Start slow 1-2 miles then increase

im 15 and i weigh 220 so its not that bad people like me are just huge bodies im 6'3" and big size is a good thing man

big body son!

Hmm, maybe you aren't fat?

If people think you weigh 160-180, and you actually weigh 230, you obviously carry it pretty well.

It isn't important how much you weigh. It's far more so that you're not fat. If you're not fat, it could just be an insecurity. That's 16 for you.

Keep working out -- if you're healthy on the inside, you'll look good on the outside.

I hope that helps, even though I know how annoying it is when someone says, "Just keep doin' what you're doin.'"

By the way, start saving your first million now. Put away a few grand (half your paychecks from working over the summer), and let 'em grow in a Roth IRA. No taxes when you retire. I wish someone had told me that when I was 16.

For your own health, you probably should lose a bit of weight. I lost 70 pounds by simply cutting back on soda, fatty stuff like peanut butter and pizza and fries. However, what really helped me keeping it off was me taking up home improvement as a hobby. 7 years later and my hobby now has produced a very nice home for me and my kids and is still going strong. What I liked about it the most is that instead of paying to go to a gym, the hobby paid for itself multiples by dramatically cutting back on the labor costs for major projects around the house. It is nice to actually save money while excecising and you feel good about yourself. If you don't like that, try gardening and landscaping. There is always physical labor involved and can produce a wonderful yard for your home for cheap while getting you the excercise you need !

You need to review your calorie and fat intake. Keep a diary of everything you eat for the next 3 days, without changing your eating habits.

Look at the diary and see how much fat and calories your taking in daily. Then look at how many of those calories are useful or unhealthy.

Then make a decision to eliminate those extra calories and fat 6 days a week. On the 7th day treat yourself to whatever you please, within reason.

Eliminate a ton of calories by not drinking anything except water. Your body will love it and you will definitely lose weight with just this one change.

It's amazing how many extras we take in without realizing. Knowledge is power.

It is nearly impossible to tell over the net what your goal weight should be, I have two friends who are 6'2", one weighs 160 lbs, the other 250, both of which are perfectly healthy and at their goal weight. Don't stress so much about weight. And though other peoples personal opinions don't always matter, they can be helpful, if you do not LOOK over weight, chances are you aren't.
I do advise if you find this a worry to speak with your local Dr and have him calculate your goal weight. This should help clear a lot of things up that the Internet can not do for you.

First of all, there is no fast way to loose weight. Usually the weight lost in a small period of time, will be gained back very quickly. Secondly, everyone is different, with different body types, and a lot of the time, a healthy weight depends on a lot of various factors, such as being big boned and so forth. You had stated, that you work out for 2 hours at least 5 days a week, so as long as your watching what you eat, I believe that you are doing all you can at this moment and time. Remember: do not compare yourself to others, because everyone has unique body types, and do not over work yourself because of others opinions, because if you do choose to loose weight, most people can only loose between 2 lbs per week, the rest is just water etc.

You are about 100 pounds over the ideal weight for your age and height. Cut your caloric intake.
