Really serious, and important, please help me!!?!

Question: ok so, my sister is seriously underweight. to the point where my mom will let her eat anything. my sister is 9 shes somewhere in like the 4'5'' - 4' 8'' range and she weight about 5 pounds. she has a bmi of 2.7. so thats not really good.

she has ADD and ADHD and one of the side effects of her day time medicine is loss of appitite and a craving for sugar when it is wearing off. so she usually doesnt eat lunch, and a crappy dinner.

she also uses food as a tool, if she doesnt get her way, and then there is a meal prepared, she will refuse and say shes not hungry becuase shes mad. and shes is VERY VERY picky, things have to be just right and if something is wrong she wont eat it again for months. we just got her to start eating chicken again.

she will usually eat breakfast but its some sort of chocolaty sugary mess, and her snacks at night are usually the same. so if anyone has any soulutions to make her start eating at least dinner, or rescipies. anything will help. THANK YOU =]

She's being totally manipulative. I'm sure your mom has talked this over with a doctor. Seeing a psychologist might help. Whatever you do don't give her sweets and chocolate. If she says she's not hungry let her be hungry rather than giving her empty calories. Has she tried V8? It's really good for picky people. yummy and lots of vegetables. Almonds are good for protein. You know, she could have a systemic yeast problem. Get the dr to try her on Diflucan or Mycostatin. it helps cut the sugar craving.

get her smoking pot..she;ll get hungry..j/k...She would eat if your mom made her sit at the table and finish her food...i wouldnt bargain with my kid..dont eat..no tv..no desert..

My parents always went for "you arent leaving the table until you eat". Bribe her. Buy her things she wants or take her places, but before she can get it or leave, she has to eat something (that you approve). Worst comes to worst, take her to the doctor (phyical and/or psychological)

She needs to see a nutrisionist. And she needs to be put on diff ADD meds. This shouldnt be taken lightley.

Ok i seriously dont think anyone even without fat or skin can weight 5 pounds, maybe 50 but not 5, unless she doesnt have any bones and organs, and to get her to start eating, show her a picture of those anarexic models that look like the zombies from the movie "I Am Legend"

sorry. your sister would be dead if she only weighed 5 lbs, or social services would be called. get real. 50 lbs. ok. i have a son and daughter who both are adhd. when they took their meds it caused weight loss and loss of appetite. they also were very thin. they needed to find the right combination of meds. right now most food probably arn't appealing and that isn't going to change anytime soon. hang in. it'll work its way out if you keep trying.

5 pounds?lol hell no..

Go see a doctor and tell them about her sitution and ask what should you do, i mean you could sneak extra hella butter and fattening foods into her food but thats not healthy either. Just make a list of the foods she actually likes and WILL eat and buy that at the grocery store. Switch ADD medicines and find one that doesnt have loss of appitie in the symtons!!!

That's a really good idea about adding protein powder.. try taking her food shopping for what she wants and likes.. she'll pick out the food she wants and maybe then she'll eat.. im sorry if that doesn't help.. I'm not sure about these kind of things

Are you sure about this? Maybe you should double check those figures when I was born I weighed approx 5 lbs. Maybe try and tempt her with some nutritional foods such as banana smoothies and flavoured milk.

your mom needs to call dr and tell him about her not eating. She needs off the medicines and onto something else if she must have meds or the special therapy that can be taught to her on how to cope with her disorders. Most of all, off those meds because it is causing her to react and act irrationally. At least your mom is trying something but she does need to tell the dr about all that you have written. Good Luck!!!

That kinda sounds like my sister shes 9 also she is really really picky and she has weighed the same for 2 years and that's 60 pounds and finally just gained 4 pounds. She wont eat any thing except bacon and french fries and chicken nuggets from McDonald's we have tried to go to doctors and other things like that but know body Will help her she is so bad she only eats two kinds of candy i have never seen a kid turn down candy before and also my sister has adhd but her medicine doesn't make her act like that i think you should tell your mom to take her off of her medicine because if my sister ever starts acting like that i would take her off it because that's really stupid to keep her on it you have to eat and when your really picky like that you have to eat more times a day or you will lose allot of weight
