You need to think about exactly what you want to achieve in your exercise routine.

Are you looking to build muscle, lose weight, get fit or perhaps a mixture of all of them?

Whey protein is associated with building muscle. To build lean muscle mass, your body needs protein, when you exercise these muscles, your body uses this extra protein to build muscle, it also aids just after muscle building exercises as it helps repair them.

If you were to exercise without taking in any protein which is found in most foods, your body could not make muscle.

If you want to build muscle then protein shakes are a brilliant idea. If you want to lose weight then burning off extra fat by doing areobic and cardio exercises should be done first.

If you are at a good weight and just want to get more toned and develop some more muscle then I would definately suggest taking protein shakes, but only if you are prepared to actually DO the exercise. Be careful though, if you are looking to lose some weight and tone up then taking protein shakes is a bad idea, as when you exercise your body will use this protein, and not burn excess fats on your body.

Why not do all of what you have mentioned? Do weights, toning exercises, and cardio such as jogging and power walking. Good luck!

UPDATE:

I have just seen your note added about you wanting to lose weight. Do NOT taking protein shakes! This would be a bad bad bad idea as mentioned above. Also - fat does NOT turn into muscle - Do not be fooled by this myth! Fat burns off, it doesnt change to muscle.

Have a good healthy breakfast in the morning and eat healthy throughout the day. Lots of fruit and veg.

Do Aerobic and cardio exercise. Make sure when you are doing these sorts of exercises that you can feel your heart pumping but you are not out of breath. This is the ideal sort of level for burning fat.

After some aerobic do some light muscle toning exerices.... squats, light weights on upper body, sit ups. The reason you will want to do this is because A is sculpts your body and gives you a better figure, and B because the more lean muscle you have the higher your metabolism will be therefore the faster you will burn fat!

Go on the net and look for toning exercises. The different between bodybuilding and toning in terms of exericise is usually, bodybuilding you lift as heavy as you can pushing your self as far as you can go. Toning you lift something thats comfortable for a number of repetitions, therefore toning and defining rather than bulking.

Hope this helps!!! x

its for any kind of excersize, when you do physical activity your muscle fibers tear and breakdown, and you need protien in order to repair the fibers harder and stronger, sometimes bigger depending on your body type

if you dont injest protien after doing excrsize, your body draws protien out of other muscles and bones to rebuild theo nes that were worn out during the excersize

Protein supplements, whether milk proteins or others, are only marginally useful with the extremes. If you aren't lifting weights six hours a day, you can save your money.

My husband Brent weightlifts. He'd be a good one to ask.
Go to Vitamin World at the Capital City Mall.
Ask someone who knows about weightlifting.
I believe Brent who weighlifts as well, so do I.
He only used Whey Protein for weightlifting.
