Will lifting weights stunt growth?!

Question: I am a 14 year old girl that's been lifting weights for a few months because i wanted to build muscle and gain strength. I'm also thinking of signing up for weight training next year for gym (every other day), but i've heard that it can stunt your growth if u lift at an early age...

so, is this true??
if it is true, what 'growth' would it stunt? bone growth, growth caused by hormones, etc??

ALSO...could i still do some type of lifting without possibly stunting my growth?
AND if it does stunt growth, would it really matter if i still kept lifting just as much as i do now and more (would it be that harmful to my health)

I think this is just a myth. Any questions go look at your high school's football team and look at anyone who is a senior. They have been lifting since 14. Doubt you will see any stunted growth.

HAHA no!

no that is totally false
lifting weights doesent and never will stunt your growth

lift away
