How can I control my Candy eatting/buying habits?!

Question: It is so TOUGH to try to eat healthy in a world where we are surrounded with addicting foods like Hershey's bars, Reese's cups, 3 Musketeers (which they say is less fat than other candy bars, but it is still too high in fat and calories!), and other candy like that. I'm a sugar addict!! Major! However, I've moved from the candy bars to fruit and sugar free puddings!! Craves the sweet tooth... however, I know there are days when you will crave chocolate and I mean chocolate! No substitution. So, I found this GREAT product! It's these FiberOne bars, the oats and chocolate kind taste just like a chocolate candy bar!!

Another tip: It takes 21 days to break a habit! So, if you can put all of your willpower into the next 21 days and NOT buy a single candy bar, your habit will break and you won't crave them anymore. But, sometimes, you just need a candy bar:-) Don't stress out if you give in once and devour a Snickers bar! But, try not to give in everyday.... that's not good...

Don't go somewhere where you can buy candy. If in store checkout avoid noticing the candy is there. If you do not buy it you can not eat it.

You can put limits on how much candy you eat daily. Since people follow habits, it takes a long time to change those habits. Its even harder to stop habits abruptly. If you usually eat large portions of candy, cut the size by 20-30%, for the next day or so. After 3 days, cut the size by another 20-30%. Then repeat after another 3 days. Candy should only be consumed 1-2% of your total diet, and could only be taken in the morning or around noon. Doing so later might have you turning that energy straight into fat.

Sugar is an addiction. The more you have, the more your body wants. Try weaning off little by little. After a meal, I usually want something sweet, so instead of grabbing a chocolate bar or a dish of ice cream, I will have a few sips of juice. It is sweet, and the urge to indulge in other kinds of sugar go away. It is said that a person who eats lots of fruit (say apples), will crave apples. I have personally experienced this with apples, and everyday I craved them. If you can pass on candy for a couple of days (or 3), you will notice your body will stop craving it. To answer your question, just don't have it in the house. Out of sight, will help lead to out of mind. Try staying away from stores that have candy for a while til you can beat this addiction (again, that is what it is). Expect to feel some withdrawal, like fatigue, headaches, irritability while breaking this habit. Good luck!
