Is my body fat percentage healthy?!

Question: I am a slender woman in my late twenties. I recently stepped on a scale at a friend house that measures body fat percentage (I really can't comprehend how this works, but it supposedly does). It said I had a body fat percent of 20%. My friend said this is high. I know that you can be slender and still have a high body fat percentage. Is mine healthy?

Yes, very. A good percentage for women your age is about 18%-26%

That would be a little high if you were a man and just a straight scale cannot determine body fat percentage. Was it maybe Body Mass Index or BMI? 20 is also a good number there.

(it works by sending a small charge into your one foot and the longer it takes to get to the other foot it calculates your % of fat because the current takes longer to travel though fat)

Does it really matter what your body fat percent is? You consider yourself slender so you must feel good about your body as is. Anyone who would consider themselves slender I doubt would have much of a problem with body fat. As long as you feel good and like how you look go with it. Not everyone can fit in these really strict groupings people have. For instance, BMI ... imagine someone who is 6'5" 230. Someone taking a BMI will tell you that the person is considered overweight... I would laugh at who told me that and tell them that 6'5" 230 is Payton Manning.

If you look good and you feel good and you do not have health problems go with it. Also remember women carry more fat than men do if not you wouldn't be curvy to attract the men.
