What does workout area for a home gym mean?!

Question: The Bowflex Motivator is 34x84x78 (inches) but its workout area is 100x78?? what does that mean? is it like when the resistence bars bend when ur working out? Thats what theyr adding on????

And isnt that pretty big???

the first measurement is the storage dimensions. the second one is after you unfold it and use it. The bench coming down and so on. then when you are done you fold it back up and store it in a corner some where.
