How do I figure out how much to work out with regarding Squats?!


Question: I have never done this exercise before and I want to gain maximum leg and core strength. I am afraid to put too much weight on there because I don't want to blow out a knee or something. What weight should I begin, i'm a naturally fairly strong man by the way.

Easy. The bar. Just get the motions down and practice for a few days with your form. If you want maximum leg and core strength, stay away from those guys who are going to tell you to do the 12 rep scheme. That is for bodybuilders and they do not have maximum leg or core strength compared to other strength athletes.

Try the Bill Starr 5x5 program for starters, google it.

just test different weights out, see which one works best, if it hurts too much go lower

start with the bar.....and going down all the way(none of this parallel stuff).....start with whatever weight you can get 10 reps out with and gradually move up.....NO ONE can give you an exact number without seeing you in action
