Is working out 5 times per week (circuit training and cardio) too much?!

Question: I usually do 40 minutes of circuit training and 40 minutes of cardio 4-5 times per week.

Answers: I usually do 40 minutes of circuit training and 40 minutes of cardio 4-5 times per week.

Assuming that you drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy diet with plenty of vitamins and proteins included, then no, your workout is not too much.

Most recommendations I've read say to give your body at least a day to recover after each heavy workout. This gives your muscles a chance to recover and rebuild. Working out 4-5 times a week gives you 2-3 days per week for rest and recovery. This sounds good to me, so I say keep up the good work. If you ever have a day after a workout that you feel very tight or sore, then use that day to recover and don't attempt to workout until the soreness has gone away. This is where drinking lots of water and proteins will help by speeding up the recovery time your body needs. Overworking things could lead to joint, muscle or ligament injuries, so don't push things too far.

Good for you though, it's hard to keep up a good exercise routine with so many other things keeping us busy nowadays.

The circuit training sounds a little much....unless you have a split routine.....upper body one day, lower body the next.
The cardio sounds great....you can even up that to 6 or 7 times a week. If you're doing the full circuit of weights all at once, I'd only recommend doing that every other day. Those muscle will need time to rest and rebuild.

you shouldn't really do circuit training more than 3 times a week - 4 would be an absolute limit.

cardio as often as u like. a little every day is better than a lot 4-5 times a week
