Is this a good daily routine to get fit and lose weight?!


Question: i want to lose weight and get fit real bad so here is my plan.. for brakefast im gonna eat a bowl of special k cereal and then when i get back from school around 4:15pm,ill eat one fruit like an apple or banana..and after 30 mins of rest,ill go use the threadmill for 30mins and i must lose at least 200calories..after the threadmill ill go do some set ups,4 sets of 15reps..then ill rest and at 8pm ill start my weight training..i use a dumbell of 20 pounds and i do my whole arm excersize,you know biceps,triceps and so on, ill do 5sets of 20reps each..and when im done..ill rest and for the rest of the day i can drink as much as green tea as i want..and before i go to bed ill eat one vegetable..well thats my daily routine..will this help me lose weight and tone myself so i can get a nice cut body? please help im desparate..thanks to all who will take the time to help!

I'm glad you came here to ask this first because if you didn't and you actually went ahead and did this, you'd kill yourself in the process.

Your diet plan sucks and your bodybuilding programme blows. But that's okay, I'm here to help.

First of all, you're not eating enough and you're not eating what you need. So you need to eat more protein because I see no protein in your diet plan. You need to eat lunch and you really need to be eating at least 1800 calories a day. This is non-negotiable. You're still growing, at least I'm assuming you're still growing which means you need the nutrients to do so.

The treadmill is good, but you'll need to jog to lose 200 calories in 30 minutes. I would say you should up the intensity and walk/jog/run for at least 45 minutes. In fact a good thing to do is interval training. Warm up by jogging a bit for maybe 5 minutes or so. Then you sprint and go flat out for 45 seconds to 1 minute or so, then slow down and walk briskly for 3 minutes to get your heartrate back down. Then do it again, and again and again. It will make a 30 minute workout as effective as one twice as long.

Your weight programme only works the vanity muscles and you're running the risk of overtraining. I see no shoulder work, no chest work, no legs and no back. If you truly want some muscles to be proud of, you need to work all parts of your body not just the arms.

You also shouldn't work the same muscle groups without giving them a day off in between sessions. So on 1 day you do arms and shoulders, the next do chest and back, the third day focus on legs, then back to arms and shoulders etc.

You'll need heavier weights than 20 pounds and a matched set of each. Once you get all that, PM me and I can give you a set of exercises.

The exercise regimen sounds good but you should really be consuming more healthy calories during the day, maybe a peice of fruit of veggies while at school. Also you need some protein to build the muscle, and some good carbs to give you the energy to be able to complete the exercises without having to vommit or pass out.

I understand your trying to loose weight but studies have shown that if you dont eat enough your metabolism slows down too much and you end up not loosing weight at all and could ultimately loose muscle mass instead. The best thing you can do is eat a low carb diet but also make sure to supplement it with a lot of good veggies. Try to eat several small meals throughout the day to keep your energy up. Apples are great snacks and so is a handfull of nuts.Carby foods like breads, pastas, rice, sugar can slow you down. Hope that helps. I wish you the best!

You sound very motivated, which is really awesome! However, your plan concerns me. First, I don't know anything about you or your body, but that meal plan is unhealthy for anyone! Sure, you can lose weight, but i won't be fat. It'll be a combination of muscle tissue, vitamins, minerals, water and fat. Your body will be in starvation mode because you're not fueling it with food. This is not the way to get a nice cut body. Try the treadmill in the morning before eating. (30 min) Also, eat protein. It keeps you full longer and is good for your muscles. How about some egg whites (4 or 6) with your SpecialK?
