Daily intake of water?!

Question: Hello! I know we're meant to drink a ridiculous amount of water everyday, but I just wondered does the intake of water count if you have dilute in it?

I drink a lot of sugar-free dilute every day (orange squash, whatever you want to call it!) but I don't know if this is counting towards my intake of water every day because it's not "pure".

Anyone know? Thanks!

I had a Dr tell me as long as it didn't have sugar in it then it counted towards your daily water intake if it is solely water with some flavoring

soda, coffee, tea, etc. all have water in it. its fine. studies have actually shown that having the 8 glasses a day doesnt really affect us.

Any type of drink can count towards your eight glasses a day, except the most recommended is water as it is the most healthiest.

It is all bunkum, based on research done in the 1950's which was misreported and latched onto by the fitness industry it stated the amount of fluid required per day, and went on to say that much, if not all, of this fluid can be taken in your food intake.

This final bit of the research conclusion was omitted.

Most of the food we consume is 70 - 90% water.

I have consumed 3 to 4 qts of water a day for several years. I think if you drink juices and sports drinks that the best you can hope for is break-even because of the sugar content, which will dehydrate you. The kids I coach in soccer all do much better in hot weather when they consume just water instead of the other stuff.

Hey same as me you gotta
give the water some taste
good luck with your quest I will
call again to see your best answer
as I am wondering the same thing

water is best but as long as you drink your eight glasses of fluid a day it keeps you hydrated and stops you being as hungry some times our body tells us we're hungry when actually we're thirsty.

There is a whole lot of baloney out there about drinking water. With a normal activity level, your body's thirst feedback circuit tells you how much water you need. You drink when you get thisty, or when you want to. Long as you do this, everything is in balance. That's all there is to it. Your kidneys excrete or conserve water, depending on the need.

If you're into heavy aerobic exercise, say outdoor cycling, in warm weather, you do need to drink extra, even if you're not thirsty, as the thirst feedback can lag, and you could become dehydrated.
