Chinese Food?!

Question: Later this month is my Fiancee's birthday and his family, him and myself are going out to a Chinese Restuarant to celebrate it. I've been on a diet so I'm a little wary about going and I don't want to go there and just sit there while they eat (that would be embarrassing for both parties.) So what would you say is some of the healthier options you can get at a Chinese place that isnt loaded with fat or a ton of calories? Thank You! :)

Try this:

Egg Drop Soup (1 cup), a Veggie Spring Roll (about 2 oz.) and Mongolian Chicken (about 5 oz)

(approximate totals): 320 Calories, 25 g. Protein, 13 g. Fat, 27 g. Carbs, and 4 g. Fiber

*Watch your portions because they overdo it
*Stay away from rice (even steamed rice is a whopping 380 calories/serving
*Limit your alcohol as that packs on the calories
*Sip green tea throughout the meal, which will help you eat less by filling you up

Anything vegetarian and non-fried. Try a tofu dish with rice. You could also get soup like hot and sour with a side of rice.

Just cheat.

Eat healthy, until later this month on that special day :)

Then just EAT whatever the hell you want to eat. Then work it off or whatever. Walk it off or something lol

CHEAT omg chinese food OWNS lol

Some Chinese restaurants offer some healthier selections, check the menu. Anything with just veggies is probably alright.

nothing really. the thing that i always do is rinse my food in tea. tea gets rid of the oil. chinese restaurant always have tea.

My restaurant near me has a health section of the menu, with all steamed veggies, chicken, and seafood. If yours doesn't have that, then just get any thing that isn't deep fried, and ask for the sauce on the side (use very little, or none at all, that's where all the fat and salt comes from). A bit of chicken (or tofu is even better) and veggies is a good dish. Soup is also low calorie and filling, but VERY high in sodium, so be careful. The rice is very high in simple carbs, so go easy unless you can get brown rice, which is less processed and won't spike your blood sugar. Don't forget to treat yourself a little, it is your fiancee's birthday!

I always get a huge dish of steamed veggies. It comes in this big wooden wok thing and looks great. Some places will have a light fare, so be sure to ask, or simply say no oil/butter on the veggies please. also chinese resturants tend to serve brown rice, just be careful with portion control. i eat healthy where ever i go, but chinese food there is not a lot of options! If you know the resturants name, look it up online to see if the nutrition is poted online. Alos try CALORIE KING. COM and enter "chinese food" it will give you an idea of how much stuff is in the food.

good luck!

go to a real chinese place, not like fast food places like panda express, china wok etc etc go to a real authentic chinese place then ask the wait staff...real chinese food is not loaded with fat and ton of calories......or u can order whatever just don't load up on rice / noodle.

chicken with broccilli - so good! dont worry about your diet for this one day - it wont kill you! enjoy!:)

order brown rice instead of white with shrimp and vegies
