Jumprope on concrete or in the grass? how long for?!

Question: i can't run because i'm not allowed to go outside of our property without someone else, and noone in my family likes to run, and when they do, they're too slow, or they don't know how to pace themselves.. anyway, i have decided to take up jumproping (ought to do somethin' eh?) but i was wondering, is it better in the grass or on the patio, which is kinda like tile, only rougher, a little hard to explain. i know that it's better to run in the grass, i used to do it all of the time b4 i moved, but still, i would like to know, and what if the grass was wet all of the time? does it make a difference? how long should i jumprope for? im 13, 118, 5'6" and in a good enough shape to run for 30 min strait, so how long and how should i jumprope?

Lol it is better to do it on the grass. It is easier on ur joints. But if the grass is long or wet it might keep stopping ur rope so it might be easier to jump on the patio. As for the time jump ropes are a killer cardio workout! So i would go for as long as u can. Maybe 5 minutes and work up from there! Its good that u decided to jump rope because it works almost ever muscle in ur body just make sure u jump on ur toes!

If the grass is wet, you could slip. But if it isn't, and you're just starting to learn how to jump rope, I'd go with the grass.

Concrete(for me) is easier than grass, but that depends on your ability.

Jump rope for as long as you feel the need to, up to 10 minutes at least, though.

If you can help it, do it on a soft surface. Like in your house on the carpet. If you can't, then do it on the patio with shoes on. You should be okay. I like doing it indoors cuz I don't need to wear shoes. But I also do it in my garage, too, while wearing shoes. Try to go for at least 10 to 20 minutes straight, or do 3 minutes straight, rest for one minute, then 3 min again, rest for one, then another 3 minutes.
