Gold's gym - price haggling?!

Question: I've been a member of Bally's for almost 7 years. I complained about it for the longest time because I basically had to die to get out of the contract. But since that's been paid off 4 years ago I only pay $15 a month (and that goes up like a dollar a year or something).

I'm thinking about joining Gold's b/c it is 5 minutes closer to my house and also opens at 5 instead of 5:30a. I work out in the mornings before work so the extra time is really key. Also a lot of people from work go there but I'm not sure that's a good or bad thing yet.

I'm wondering if you can haggle the price at Gold's. I get the law enforcement rate so they'll waive the down payment and then it's like $39 a month. What are the odds I can get this down to something in the $20s? Otherwise it's not worth it to me because I mainly run and lift weights at home and just keep the gym membership for bad weather and to get a break from running when I get sick of it a few times a year.

You can haggle with absolutely anyone- Golds Gym will do it too, even if they say they won't. The thing about haggling is that you have to be willing to leave and not buy the product or service if you don't get the price that you want... Be nice while you're haggling too, if they like you they are more likely to give you a favorable rate.

I'm in Sales, and I can tell you that no matter what you're buying, be it a new or used car, a gym membership, home improvements, anything- the salesperson wants to make as much as possible off the sale, but they will still cut the price so long as they can make any profit at all on it if it's either that or lose the customer.

I was able to haggle at LA Fitness, I am sure you can at Gold's too. The answer is always no unless you ask.

You can haggle price at ANY gym... tell them what you just told me- you can also get "sign up fee's" waived.

if thats what u use it for than try getting it down cause i wouldn't pay 40 bucks fur just being mem...
