Cereal??!!!!?!

Question: Okay, I absolutely LOOOOVVVVEEEE cereal! Recently tried Kellogg's Frosted Flakes Gold and it was DELICIOUS!! I don't usually eat cereal for breakfast, instead I eat it during the day straight from the box. Is that healthy? The cereal I do eat like that is usually fat free, but does the sugar amount really cause such a big problem? Plus FF Gold has a .5 fat content with each serving. Also, I sometimes eat the entire box.......it's just so tasty! I'm only seventeen and have restricted myself to an extremely low fat diet for a while now. So, Cereal good? Or not? Will it make me gain weight that I'm trying not to gain?

Cereal like frosted flakes is awful on a diet. Completely empty calories, loads of sugar. Simple sugars convert to fat in your body. If you eat a whole box that's a ridiculous amount of carbs. They will make you gain weight for sure, as they aren't complex carbs, and they spike your blood sugar. I say strictly limit yourself to one serving per day, and try to find a healthier cereal. Go find one you like at a health food store, or the health section at your grocery store. They have some good ones! By the way, a low fat diet isn't always the best way to lose weight. As long as the fat you eat is healthy (think mono and polyunsaturated fats), then you're fine. The body needs fat. I lost 10 pounds in the past 1-2 months, and I eat a few servings of nuts every day. That's about 20-30 grams of fat, but only like 1 gram is saturated. Healthy fat, in moderation, is a building block of a healthy diet. Good luck with yours, hope I was helpful!

depends what cereal and the milk and how much

As long as you dont go eating a box of coco puffs everyday.Try wheaties!I think they are good and they are very good for you!

As long as you eat a balanced diet outside of cereal, you should be fine.

Nah. Cereal is a healthy snack as long as it is whole grain.
I think Frosted Flakes are whole grain though..
[all general mills cereals are.]

I'm a big fan of cereal too. If my family wasn't looking, I'd probably down a whole box every day. I think that I, or anyone would gain weight, so I bought 'All Bran Buds' with psyllium fiber. They taste okay and are really healthy. When I want to have cereal, I eat much less of it when that is the only option. You might gain weight but everyone's body works differently. A whole box of cereal would definitely decrease the possibility of weight loss.

Also, try buying or asking your parents to buy hot cereals, like Cream of Wheat or Oatmeal.

Oh my God! and I thought I was the only one. I love froosted flakes especially with banana I just had 3 bowls. the only thing with me is that I don't have too much milk. weird huh? well, I guess it's ok cause I eat that all the time and I still look the same. all skinny and I used to be chubby until I started with the cereal.

try the healthier cereal, like total, for a diet, and don't eat the whole box. i know it will be hard, i love sugar cereal too. i'm actually eating some as i type this.
