The use of steroids?!

Question: There is a question concerning the use of steroids. My friend asked me if I wanted to start taking steroids because my physical shape is great thus far and I did it with hard work and patience without the use of seroids. They tell me that if I take steroids I will look fantastic ten times much better ,but for what?

What are the odds that taking steroids will make me feel bteer or perhaps make me crash in the end?

First, ask yourself what your goals for working out are:

Is it to be stronger and fitter so that you can live longer and be more active?

Is it to look better, so that you feel more confident about yourself and appear more attractive to women?

Is it a "Mount Everest" kind of thing? Is bodybuilding a kind of personal challenge ... your "mountain" that you want to climb?

Is it because you enjoy being in the gym? Does it destress you and help you stay mentally and physically focused?

I would bet it's a combination of all of the above.

Now ask yourself whether using anabolic steroids are really going to improve any of these goals that much beyond where you would be if you just kept working hard, eating clean and being patient.

And while you're at it, ask yourself if all of the documented side-effects (hair loss, shrinking testes, overly aggressive behavior/roid rage, severe acne that can scar you permanently, increased risk of cancer and liver disease) are worth it personally to you.

I won't lie, anabolic steroids and human growth hormone can rapidly accelerate fat loss and increase lean muscle mass. There is even a school of thought that when carefully administered by a physician with advanced knowledge of the endocrine system, many of the side-effects can be avoided.

Even then, the long term effects are still unknown. The best case studies are East German/Russian athletes who report having serious and permanent health problems from the doping they underwent in the 70s and 80s. And then there are the countless personal stories of people who used roids or growth hormone and ended up with a whole range of health issues (in some cases, they were lethal.)

Bottom line is that even if you decided you were going to do this (and it is illegal, remember), you and your friend do not have the medical knowledge required to do it properly. And if you think you're going to get the knowledge from some guy at the gym or an underground bodybuilding bulletin board, you're playing with fire.

It's your decision, ultimately. Consider this though: If you got where you got with hard work and patience, that's something that no one can take away from you. You should be more proud of that than your bicep circumference or one rep max on the bench. Once you start juicing, people will know it. And they'll always dismiss your physique and lifts with the line: "He's on roids ... take him off the dope and see if he still has it."

Which guy do you want to be?

Best of luck!

Don't take them, they can kill you and they make you "package" smaller. No one will really care about some dead muscular guy with a tiny weiner, don't use 'em, just do what you do now.

Oh gawd no.
Don't take steroids.

I don't have my book with me, but sure it may make you stronger but gives you so many nasty side-effects that you don't want. You don't want to be randomly moody and have people dislike you for that. You don't wanna end up developing small breasts. (( it DOES happen. )) There's so much more...that I don't remember. >_>;
Along with the fact, I THINK it makes pull muscles much more easily.

steroids reduces life span, if you wish to bulk up there are less dangerous ways to do so than steroids, such as protien powders, the best way to bulk up would be to join a gym and hire/use a physical trainer... also keep in mind that should you ever use steroids you will be disqualified to participate in collegiate, amateur, and professional sports... you will have body mass but you won't be that strong, your strength will not match your mass when compared to those with the same muscles who did not use steroids

And the point would be?

1. You look fantastic and attract chicks
2. You get all pissed off because your unit's shrunk and you can't do anything with them.
3. You go into a roid rage, beat the chick, end up in jail as some Bubba's fantastic looking *****.
