Working out in the morning, over-eating at night?!

Question: For about 7 years I worked out exclusively after work (started out with the gym, then got really into running, now I'm combining both). For the past couple of months I've been getting up around 5am and getting my workout done BEFORE work. Once I'm up and out of bed I love it -- love getting it over with so nothing can come up later (work, weather, laziness) and love the way I feel energized all day.

The problem is that when I get home from work I feel like a lazy *** because I'm just sitting around the couch doing nothing. I also get super bored and turn to food. I haven't gained but I also haven't lost the 5 lbs I gained over Xmas.

I'm trying to figure out if I should keep working out in the morning, which would force me to deal with my "turning to food for entertainment" issue. Or if I should work out in the evening to try and avoid it all together. Really, I prefer having more time in the evening to do whatever I want, but in reality I end up doing nothing (and eating).

Well yes and no, Working out in the morning may increase you meto. speed for the day, buring cals as you go through the day.
But being bored in the evening may lead you to eat and therefore it may be better to workout in the evening.
If you work out about 2 hours before you go to bed it can help sleep too.
I tend to get bored in the evening and get too, so i go to the gym when im back from work and work out for say 2/3 hours then go home, have a very light turky salad and relax then go to bed.
If you Do want to work out in the mornings you could do things to stop yourself eating at night/evenings, like going out for a movie or with friends, or you could put a post it note on the fridge telling yourself not to snack in the eveings, or haev lots of fruit in the house, so when you Do snack its on strawberrys and blueberrys, which are very good for you and wont cause hardly any weight gain.
Hope this helps

Do it in the evening.

You do lose more if you do it in the morning but you gain it back because it makes you eat more throughout the day.

Besides, obviously you feel more comfortable doing it in the evening. ^_^
