Before venturing into weights..begin a regimen consisting of bodyweight core exercises. There a lot of exercises you can do without any equipment. Go to this link of example of core exercises:

yoga or pilates

deadlift

yeah you can strengthen your upper back by standing in a corner and leaning foward with your hands on either wall. hold yourself here for 30 seconds and repeat. i did this to improve my posture and strenghten my back

or do as the brits used to do and have urself wrapped veryyy tihtly in cloth for a few years......o course u wont be able to walk for a while......but still.

lift weights, buy book on weight lifting and body building you will find info. you need.

squat and like someone above mentioned, deadlift. These exercises will straighten your spinal erectors, the muscles that keep your back upright and straight.

Look for "Core" exercises. The Core includes your abs, back, obliques, etc. Thats what you're shooting for.
