So fed up of being ill..?!

Question: I take vitamin c and zinc. I don't smoke. I get around 8 hours sleep a night. I drink plenty of water. I eat a healthy diet full of fruit and veg. I don't drink more than a few units of alcohol a week. I wrap up warm in winter. And yet I seem to get every virus or cold going, and I'm sick of it.

I've been to see a GP, who confirmed that I'm not anaemic and I don't have an underactive thyroid. He concluded that "I must be unlucky."

Does anyone know anything I can take, apart from vitamin c and zinc, to stop getting ill all the time? Or should I try and see a specialist?

Please help!

There could be a number of reasons why you get so many colds. Stress, for eg. can lower your immune defences. Also the antioxidants, of which one is Vit c plus others found in fruit and veg, work best as a network and these are good immune defence boosters. There are tests available which can give you an indication of how good your fruit and veg intake actually is. Perhaps you should see a nutritionist. Hope you start feeling better soon.

I get sick often and noticed that taking Airborne helps cut my recovery in half or more. Try it. Report It

  • alcohol, smoking, getting hardly any sleep seems to work for me , i never get sick...............aaaaaaargh my heart

sambucol. its AMAZING. if i ever feel a cold coming, it goes within a day. seriously!

the winter is the worse time for colds and flu. i hope you feel better soon. the spring is one its way...

If I was you just stay in doors, and makesure when you goto work watch they don't sneeze all over you.

Cos people that gets sneezed all over then thats how they catch other peoples colds.

I know this is going to sound harsh and you probably will not like the answer but maybe consider the fact that this is psychological, you seem to be living a healthy life and sure there is a Chance that it is just unlucky but sometimes we can convince ourselves there is something wrong when really there isn't.

I suspect its a lifestyle problem rather than diet related. Honestly as you can assess your overall fitness and then plan to improve it by at least 30%. Do lots of outside walking, running or swimming try not to spend too long in airconditioned rooms. Get your body used to the cold and wet. Open your windows at home and let in fresh air, live like you would if you lived and worked in the countryside . You will be amazed how well your body will respond.

Rhodiola Rosea will help to take away any tiredness, exhaustion and weakness.

    Also,

Try taking a multivitamin/mineral, fish oil and Ginkyo Biloba.

Stay away from junk food, drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices.

'unlucky', and 'inderterminate' are fancy ways of saying "i haven't the faintest idea'. maybe you should consult your doctor for flu shots? its not the rarest thing to get a cold, everyone does though the effect level varies

You have a weak immune system..and u need to consult another dr. too. a weak immune system is not a good thing..it cd mean u have some other underlying illness

see a different dr who wont just shrug u off and tell u it "all in your head" he sounds rude!

Alot of health problems start in the mind. Stop puting so much focus on your health and u will probably stop picking things up.

I came across this great product for weight loss (all nautral) and it was excellent for me (it's a detox colon cleanse). Together with a good diet and exercise I am finally happy with my body and the way I look. You should check this product at
http://thin-fit.info , they have a free trial and you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling. A must!

Bee propolis and cat's claw. They are both natural remedies that are available from Holland And Barrett. Take them at the first sign of illness. They work for me.

Maybe vitamin c and zinc isn't enough. Try a nutritional supplement to give your body more of what it needs to fight its own infections. It's hard to get the necessary nutrients out of fruit and vege's these days. Large companies now own the farms and use way too many chemicals - literally sucking nutrients out of plants.

I've been cold/flu free for about a year now. I feel good!

    It's all in your head.
