Question about smoothies?????!


Question: you no how they say drinking juice, even if it is 100% real juice and nothing else, you are not getting the fiber. Grinding fresh fruit into smoothies, do you lose the fiber too?????

Not unless you have magic evaporating fiber.....

in juice they STRAIN the fiber out.....

so unless your straining your smoothie the fiber should still be there (did it leave you a note saying it was going to step out for a date & would be back?)

probably not, i don't see why the fiber would be gone if the fruit is fresh.

It's still there, just smooshed!
Think about it, it's like having the same thing just in a diiferent state. Just make sure you drink everything along with the pulp.

no, you still get the fiber because the whole fruit goes into the smoothie. with juices, the juice is squeezed out of the fruit.

You are getting the fiber if you are eating the whole fruit...even if it is ground up

That is why your smoothie or fresh juice only counts as one of your five a day, no matter how much you drink.

Well most of the fiber is gone if you dont drink the pulp. The skin is the major source of fiber.

No you don't lose the fiber. They only say that about juice and smoothies because they want you to go out and buy fiber supplements. It's all about money. Fruit is fruit. Fruit is healthy. If you make a smoothie yourself at home you are ensured that nothing fake is added and that it is packed with natural fiber :)

Smoothies; as long as you are only using fruit and low fat yogurt or milk and 100% fruit juice, it is beneficial to your health. If you want extra fiber, put metamucil or the equavilent into the smoothie. You will not lose fiber, pure fuit juice will not make you lose fiber!
