WORKING OUT- doesn't hurt for long after am i doing this right?!

Question: When I workout i make sure i practice the proper technique, so i know my technique is right, but i am unsure, for how long after you work out are your muscles supposed to hurt?
Because when im lifting weights, i lift to failure and it hurts alot right after i do it. I actually love the feeling, it encouraGES me makes me feel like im doing it right. But im not sure why my muscles only hurt for like 10-30 mins after i work out. After 30 mins or so, its as if i never worked out, like i dont feel any pain. Is this normal? Am i still building muscle? most of the time, like right now i can feel it but only slightly. my muscles dont exactly hurt or anything just a bit, well. tired kinda thing, but im wondering am i still building muscle even though im not hurting?

Your muscles will hurt during and shortly after your workout, but will usually feel good for the rest of the day because working out releases endorphins. It's not until your body starts to repair the damage (ie builds new muscle) that you really get sore. I'm usually a little sore on the day after and even more on the day after that.

If you're working out everyday, you'll probably be the least sore. The best way to get rid of soreness is to work out the day after a workout. If you want soreness, then take a day or two of rest afterwords.

The other answers were also good, i appreciate it thanks. Report It

  • Are you sore the next day? If you're not sore the next day or two days later I would question the effectiveness of your training. When I work my legs and abs I am sore for about 10 minutes after, followed by the "spaghetti noodle" feelings for a couple hours, followed by mild-severe muscle soreness the next two days. If I am not sore the next day I know I did not do as much as I should have.

yes you are.....you are not hurting because you injured yourself per se, it is only the fatigue of using the muscle....this is a good thing if you only feel it for a short time like that...the idea behind working any muscle is that you work it and literally break it down....then you skip a day on that muscle and let it rebuild itself....this is where your muscles grow....working them everyday may not allow them to rebuild as there has not been enough time lapsed but if you are only burning for 10-30 min afterwards you may be rebuilding quicker than normal and it could be okay for you to work out each day on the same muscles...i wouldnt do it in the same day though like in the morning and then again in the evening...i know that feeling you are talking about though....its a real rush and technically if you think about it it really is an adrenaline rush!
