How can I avoid pain in my butt/inner thighs from spinning?!

Question: I just started taking a spinning class for P.E. In only a couple minutes I was in a lot of pain from sitting on that hard, poorly shaped seat. By the end of class I felt bruised and like my skin was rubbed raw. I don't want to be a quitter, but I can't imagine feeling like this all the time. What can I do to prevent this?

You should definitely want to get bike shorts. They compress against your skin and absorb moisture so your skin won't get rubbed raw.

You also may want to put talcum powder on your skin that is coming into contact with the seat.

Don't Quit!

stop spinning?

I've done spinning a few times and I admit I am a quitter because that takes some endurance to say the least. I was told that there is special padding you can buy to make you feel more comfortable within that area.

If you do a search I'm certain something will come up. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Maybe you can get a padding or cushion. Guess it will helps.

I don't think it would make you a quitter.

I don't spin because of that. I've ended up with bruises on my butt from spinning, and raw spots. It's just not worthwhile to me. There are other forms of cardio that don't cause ugly spots on my skin.

If you really want to keep it up though, I've seen bike shorts that have butt padding sewn right into them. They might help.
