How can I control my appetite?!

Question: I have always been skinny. I have had three kids recently, youngest being 6 months. I try to control what I eat to help shed some pounds, but when I am hungry I get a headache if I dont eat alot instead of smaller portions. Any suggestions as to how I can change this?
I dont want to take out breakfast, lunch or dinner I just want to eat smaller portions but it just doesnt fill my stomach and I seem so hungry and then I end up over eating. I am not overweight now but I think if I keep this up I will be.

your on the right track.. eat fruits, veggies, and nuts.

Fruits contain a lot of natural sugar and nuts have natural fat that help boost metabolism, make you feel more full, and possibly lower cortisol.

Try eating a salad with them. For instance, greens with grapes, raisins, almonds, apples, I make my own because its cheaper but Jason's Deli has the best salad ever, and its good for you. Its called the Nutty Mixed up Salad.

I just found this:

Drink a lot of water it'll make you full.

eat 5-6 times a day

eat more often - just less at a time. eating 5 small meals a day (every 3 or so hours) rather than 3 larger meals is way better for you. good luck!

stay away with junk foods and eat what your body needed about every meal.

Hoodia perhaps.. Appetite suppressant..

Don't be drastic your body doesn't like it srink you portions by 1 or 2 percent then over several weeks you will be eating smaller portions water does help you feel full and has zero calories fat a colesterol all the bad stuff. What you are trying to do is get the actual stomach to shrink and you won't to do it slowely. I eat half of what I used to but I didn't just cut my portions in half I started shrinking little by little so the stomach doesn't really notice until eventually you are eating alot less.

Yes to the other people who answered. Drink a lot of water and eat every 2 to 3 hours. It will help keep your blood sugar level so you don't get headaches. Choose your snacks wisely. Raw nuts and seeds, fruits and veges. I like to mix lowfat vanilla yogurt with lowfat granola for a yummy snack too! Try to only eat food your body needs. Nutrient dense foods! Make a promise to yourself to be good to yourself and eat really healthy fresh foods! If you eat protein and fiber with every meal you won't want to overeat. Be good to yourself!! I also have 3 kids so you should get them used to feeling really good too and eating fresh whole foods! Look for a whole food market or farmers market and get them in the "I can be healthy" mode so you can all feel good and stay well! Sparkpeople.com has a ton of recipes, choose wisely!
