There is a misconception about fasting. Fasting is extremely good for the body, as long as done correctly. Fasting allows to body to be given time to re-cooperate without it having to do your food digestion chores. It allows the body to get rid of old cells which haven't been attended to, produce more growth hormone, and other hormones, and allows your body to cleanse the toxins in your blood.

When you fast you should, drink alot of juice (fresh juice), to keep your body hydrated and to provide nutrients to your body, as it will go into a starvation mode. Also maybe eat a tablespoon of salt a day so you don't go low on sodium.

And yes, it can shrink your stomach, so you eat less afterwards.

its not good for you ...but yes, it will make your stomach shrink and therefor you will fill full faster....I did this(not on purpose) when I was going through a rough time and just didnt feel hungry at all...I didnt eat for 3 days...BUT when you do that...most of the time, when you start eating again..you gain weight alot faster...try eating slower and try to always leave some extra stuff on your plate :)

This will slow your metabolism down, so that when you stop the fast, your body will hold onto the calories and fats of what you eat and make you gain weight easier.

If your used to way too much not a lot would be very bad. Changes must be slow.

Fasting is not a good weight loss strategy.

It's true that if you fast for a couple days, your body will want less food at first, when you start eating again. But that won't last--in a day or two, you'll be back to your usual eating patterns.

Fasting can be a spiritual discipline, but not a dieting one.

I've noticed since I started watching my portion size and simply eating less, that I'm full faster. And this will be a much longer-term change, as I continue in my portion control. (I'm not talking meals of two grapes and a cracker here; I'm talking about a cup of pasta instead of a cup and a half or two cups, or one piece of bread (or none) instead of two.)

Our bodies don't do well with sudden changes--slow and steady is much better. Sorry, but your mom is wrong.

lol go ahead and fast, its your body your messing up
