How unhealthy is it to eat one bad meal?!

Question: I almost always eat healthily. Tonight I'm having homemade lasagne though. So I was wondering what kind of effect this one off might have on my health/weight.

How often can you afford this kind of unhealthy food in an otherwise healthy diet?

I walk/jog every morning for 30 mins and walk to and from school, 15mins each way, everyday

Exercising even 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week is better than nothing. In your case, you appear to be getting decent cardiovascular fitness, and therefore you provide yourself more leeway than one who eats the same as you yet does not exercise beyond the requirements of a daily routine (walking to the car, etc.)

And allowing yourself one "unhealthy" meal all depends upon what unhealthy is to you. If you appreciate your physique, but find you'd like more energy, unhealthy foods (such as fatty meats, too many starchy foods and plain ol' junk) are best avoided.

Like someone mentioned above, you should allot some "freebie" meal to your diet time and again to reward yourself, but understand that this has its ramifications. It will bring you temporary pleasure, but its effects might not leave you feeling altogether fit internally. (And perhaps a little guilty.)

As little as one "unhealthy" meal is unlikely to put you completely out of whack, but it can pack more calories than you'd appreciate, and you'd find that it takes up one meal, or even two all on its own.

So if you reach/cook for that unhealthy meal, dig around your grocery store and see if you can't find something similar that packs a healthy punch instead, and pretty soon, you'll find yourself loving those meals all the more (but remember moderation is key, so don't indulge on those either).

Best of luck to you, you sound to be doing better than most Americans, haha.

Your fine take a breather. Most people allow themselfs to cheat on on meal a week when they are dieting and still lose the weight. Just remember portion control. Don't eat like the whole pan! I promise you you are ok. Besides Lasaugna really isn't that bad. They are a lot worse things out there to eat. You have to enjoy food once in a while or life would suck to eat boreding healthy stuff all the time.

That's totally fine.
Lasagna is actually fairly healthy...in moderation. So eat until you're satisfied, but not stuffed.
And if you eat healthily all the rest of the time, one treat isn't going to do ANYTHING.
It takes 3,500 not burned off calories to make one pound. And because of metabolism, you are constantly burning calories.
You'll be fine. You won't gain any weight.
Especially since you exercise so much.
Don't worry!
Eat it and enjoy it!

Make it with whole wheat lasagna, and it's even healthier. But I end up eating about one meal a week that's not really lowfat, and I never gain weight that day. I might not lose any weight, but that's okay too. I hear one cheat day is actually good. It keeps you from going crazy every other day.

And lasagna is hardly a bad meal for you. So don't feel bad.

And on days I eat pasta, I just make a small portion and fill myself up with mostly salad and veggies.

One meal does not make or break your health. What matters to your body is the average content of your meals over a much longer time frame- say a week or so. And lasagne isn't exactly a completely unhealthy meal you know? A lot depends on how it was made. It also matters how much you ate. If we are talking the typical cheese laden gooey lasagne, with loads of meat, then yes- it probably is loaded with calories and fat. On the other hand, it was also loaded with calcium. And it is just one meal. All you have to do is balance things out, by eating lower calorie and low fat for a few days. There are no forbidden foods, only those foods we should eat less of less often. There is nothing wrong at all with eating a higher fat/calorie meal every so often, you just plan ahead for it by adjusting the diet appropriately before you eat it (if you can) and after you eat it. Not a big deal. Enjoy the lasagne without worrying about it. Better to allow yourself the weekly reasonable splurge than to deny yourself and absolutely pork out when you finally break down. A little lasange never hurt anyone, just don't eat the entire panful. Eat a little salad on the side, if it helps your conscience. Too bad they aren't offering canolli as well. Now those are worth a little guilt, when they are good.
