What are some good tasting, healthy-but easy snacks/meals to eat?!

Question: I'm a stay at home mom trying to get healthy and loose some weight. I am getting married in May so I would like to loose about 15-20 lbs. I currently just started running 3 days a week and walking 2 days. I'm also counting calories and aiming for about 1800 a day.

CONGRATS ON GETTING MARRIED!!
Well, there are many fun, nutritious things that are quick and easy to fix and buy! Try to stick to unprocessed foods like fresh fruits (apples are quick and filling!)
Apples are great with:
lowfat yogurt
peanut butter
low fat cheese (I promise, it's good:-) )
on toast with peanut butter!!!

Try some veggies (they sell great frozen veggies at all grocery stores that you can just pop in the microwave and they're already complete with a sauce or lowfat cheese!)

Try carrots or peppers with some hummus!!

However, I know just sticking to processed foods is really tough! I mean you can only eat raw veggies for so long right? So here are some GREAT snack options I've found from different websites!

For your crunchy cravings:
Nabisco 100-Calorie Snack Packs
Dry cereal (like Special K, Fiber One, Kashi)
A small handful of almonds
Toss together pretzel sticks, raisins, and dried fruit!
Air-popped popcorn

For your sweet cravings:
100-Calorie Brownie Packs
Special K Chocolatey Delight
FiberOne Oats and Chocolate Bar (Tastes like a candy bar!)
100-Cal Cookie Packs
Light chocolate ice cream(American Idol Slow Churned
Dreyer's ice cream is here! For a limited time only!)

For your salty cravings:
Salted nuts
indibidual popcorn packs
pretzels

For your creamy cravings:
Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy 100 cal yogurt (AMAZING!)
60-cal pudding cups (addictive...)

You're on the right TRACK!

The 100 calorie snack packs are good and a great quick snack!

Trail mix made of unsalted nuts, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, raisins and dried cranberries.

Whole grain cereal (dry or with 1% milk). Don't torture yourself, mini wheats are OK even with the frosting, just count out the portion. Special K Satisfaction cereal is delicious and also high in fibre and protein.

Instant oatmeal (one pack is about 130 - 180 calories). You can buy weight control oatmeal now with 5 grams of fibre and 10 or so grams of protein in one little pack!

There are omega-rich granola bars made by Nature Valley that are around 120 - 200 calories depending.

There's always a slice of whole grain toast with peanut butter and banana.

Fruit make great snacks - I love green apples because they actually end up burning more calories than you are consuming. Oranges are great. Banana's provide the potassium you need to ease after-workout soreness. Berries provide anti-oxidants for anti-aging and preventing cancer.

Veggies are great if you like them (personally, I hate them and force myself to eat them).

Low fat yogurt with fresh or frozen berries and granola sprinkled on top is a personal favorite of mine. Very satisfying because of the protein and granola!

Good luck.

A good diet i tried out that was easy and worked is, for the first two weeks only ate vegetable, meats, eggs (no yoke), Cheese and nuts, no carbs the first week. I ate foods like home made chicken salads, All types of foods with eggs, and all types of vegetable in salads or vegetable soups.

By the third week you can include Fruits, And One carb for the week. Exp (Bread,Tortillas, Rice, Past) By then for small good snacks like ham and cheese on crackers, Fruit Salads that include cottage cheese since its a natural burner, Pears are also a good source of fat burners or anti-oxidants.

For drinks Green Tea is a natural anti oxidant that can help you lose 5 pounds in 9 days. (I recomend you dont drink it at night since it has a lot of caffiene)

Also with every good diet you need to excercise 3 times a week for at least 30min.

Its a simple diet that doesnt really deprive you of your favorite foods so i hope these helps

soy crisps, 100 cal snack packs, fig newtons, fruit, veggies, yogurt, and the list goes on and on.....

- Veggies and fat free dip
- Fruit
- Fat free/sugar free yogurt
- Fat free cottage cheese
- Baked tortilla chips and salsa
- Nachos made with baked chips, fat free sour cream, and low fat cheese, vegetarian refried beans ~ this maybe more of a meal
- 100 calorie packs (easy way to keep track of calories)

All the above advice is great, for a hearty filling meal also consider soups(not canned) they can be frozen in advance and are filling but the broth helps cut down on the amount you eat. Veggie based soups are supper simple to make. Spinach makes a great low fat base that is actually yummy and helps get the comfort food cravings dieters often suffer undercontrol.
Also try adding a fiber supplement to your diet, it helps keep you full.

fruit
