Question: Weve been doing first aid at college and they tested our blood pressure and our pulse and we were told its meant to be 60-80, but he said mine was very high at 104!! Thats really high. Does anyone know why???
He said it could of because i was nervous or coming down with something. Im 5ft4 and im 6 and half stone if height and weight does anything to it.
Im really worried!

You were probably just nervous about having the test taken. We did this at college for biology, and everyones first result was a bit higher than usual.

However if you don't exercise at all, this could cause your resting heart rate to be high. Try doing some aerobic exercise (such as dance, fast walking, cycling, jogging etc) for at least 30 mins 3 times a week. This will strengthen your heart and improve its ability to pump blood around your body, therefore your resting heart rate will be lower.

If your really worried, go to the doctor and get a checkup for peace of mind.

Maybe you were nervous when they took it? Have you been doing excersise?

Yea i agree with "Tech Geek1995" maybe you were nervous or just done exercise whilst taking your pluse rate.

I exercise 3 times a week, my bp is between 124/72 and 115/51 but my resting pulse is always over 90 !!

i suffer from svt's which cause your heart rate to race periodically...at the worst mine was 220bpm! however you also sound to me like you're quite under weight? eat a bit more.

Hi there, you are about the perfect weight (if not a big too light) for your height so there should be no concerns when it comes down to that.

However, if you do go to the gym, it can cause a permanent rise in resting heart rate if you excessively exercise, as there hasn't been a sufficient rest period between exercise sessions.

Do you drink a lot of coffee? Coke? Diet Coke? These all contain caffeine, which is a stimulant that causes a rise in heart rate. If drank excessively, you can have palpertations (uncontrolled beatings of the heart) which can feel uncomfortable, and are no good for your health.
Are you under pressure at work? If so, then cut back the stress, because streess causes a release in cortisol which is hormone that naturally causes more adrelanine (which is why you get angry) which again, causes rise in resting heart rate.

Hope this helps!

Adam
