The best way to lose weight is to change your lifestyle. To start I suggest you keep a food and activity journal for a week or so; this will establish a good baseline and help you catch any "bad" habits you may currently have in your diet. I would also check in with your doctor just to see if there is something medically going on (thyroid function/reaction to shot) and to get some personalized advice on goals.

You said you played sports in high school, so you can try to find a league or pick up game that you can join to become active again. If you are in college, most universities have on campus gyms that are free to students as well as low cost or free training. Also if you are in college, there should be a dietitian or nutritionist available to the students who can help you create a diet modification plan. If you are not in college, then talk to your doctor about getting a referral to a nutritionist or dietitian (only if you want to have a professional help with designing a menu to get you started on the right track).

The key to long term weight loss is exercise and diet. Instead of following a fad diet make healthy modifications to your lifestyle and the weight will eventually come off. This may be slower than the fad dieting, but the results are more likely to be permanent.

i don't really know how to answer that. Watch your portions, exercise and drink lots of water. That's the healthiest way to lose weight. What's wrong with that? It will come off slowly, but think of it this way, the slower it comes off, the longer it will stay off. If you build muscle while you lose weight, you will burn more calories throughout the day, and this will in turn increase your weight loss.

try to get back to 155 range. thats a good weight. good luck.
