Are my parents trying to make me anorexic??????!

Question: Well, i am over weight.. . and i know.. and i really do want to change that but i just always fail.. I have tried good diets.. not the fad ones but actually eat healthy ones.. but i have no stuck to one yet.

Okay well i have 14... am 5'7 and weigh 230 pounds.. i know that that soudns like alot but alot of it is muscle... i look big.. but i dont have roll upon roll of fat..

Well my parents are constantly yelling at me... Right now i am inbetween sports.. swimming finished last week and track starts next week... i like to stay active... but right now i am enjoying my weeks off.. my parents are constantly dropping hints and are saying stuff like.. "you know there diet soda in there right". and "if you are bored.. you can always go excercise,,, it will make you feel better"

This just makes me mad and feel even worse about myself... today i almost actually threw up everything i ate because i was so disgusted at myself.

How are my parents helping me by doing this?

tell them that they are being assholes and how they are really hurting you

Your parents are NOT trying to make you anorexic. They're just trying to keep your mind off of food and keep you ACTIVE. Be thankful for them! They've fed you enough to get you to 230 lbs; at least they're not forcing food down your throats like some parents today.

230 lbs at 5`7 is definitely not healthy. You really, really need to work on losing weight...not just 'staying active'.

If you truly believe that they're making this even harder, then you must communicate this with them! I can just about guarantee that they only want the best for you. When I weighed 200 lbs (at 5`6), my parents did the same thing, but that just pushed me a lot harder. It was a rough kind of tough love, you know? It worked, though.

They are not trying to make you anorexic. They want you to be happy with yourself and have a healthy lifestyle. Diet soda is good tasting...btw. At least to me it is. Sports are good, and so are weeks off! Just eat right and do some things they say to do and you'll be normal weight and end up having a lifestyle you can stick with!

NO! do not wory at all. Your parents are only doing this to help you. Im sure they are concerned about your well being and they only want the best for you. And please sit down and talk to them about it... Mom/dad, I feel very hurt when you ______ beacause it makes me feel_____ becasue i have tryed to lose weitht and i do try to exercize and i am in sprots and _____ and ill make steps to change it by______... could you pleas be a little mor suportive of e because you dont know how hard it is.... try something like that.. i kno it sounds cheezy but believe me ... it will work and youll be tankfull in the end =)) GOOD LUCK!

I think you should sit them down and tell them how you feel. Tell them that their comments are hurtful and as their daughter they should love you for who you are since you love yourself for who you are and that is all that matters. Besides you are 14 and you are still growing. You're just enjoying being a teen and making memories, not worrying what your next meal is going to be. Too many girls and guys fall victim to eating disorders (I was one of them) and it is not a good way to live. As long as you try to eat healthier and you are doing some sports it shows you are putting in an effort and even if you are considered "overweight" it doesnt mean you are not healthy. If your limbs still work, you can remain active and breathe right I don't see any problem right now. Enjoy being yourself, for you are beautiful no matter how much you weigh. It's all about confidence.

If you feel yourself swaying towards getting an eating disorder I would advise that you ask your parents to have your doctor set you up with a nutritionist to learn some helpful tips (because perhaps when you are eating healthy you are not eating enough, there for are starving and then go back to your old ways?) or get in contact with a mental professional to load some of this stuff off of your shoulders.

Good luck! :)
