I own a health and nutrition business and have taught fitness.
If you are working out regularly and taking the shakes, AND if you are eating healthy (lots of fruits, vegetables and grains along with your meats) and staying off of the deep fried foods, then realize that much of the energy is going into just growing, so the buffness will take a little longer. Figure about 6 months, if you do things right.
Here are some things that will help: Regardless of what many people may tell you, you CAN work out too much, and if you do, you will not get buff, just lean! To get buff, you need to do your reps slowly, and build up your weight gradually so that you do not end up injured. Figure that the slower you do those weight reps, the more you work that muscle. Less reps, slower is one of the keys.
The next key is that if you do lots of working out every day, you will end up leaner, and your muscles will not be as big. Put yourself on a regimen of high intensity workout one day, and just a little bit the next - about 1/4 of that workout - so that your muscles have a chance to recover and build up. Stress one day, rest the next day, stress the next day, rest the next day. This will give you a chance to build bigger muscles faster than hard workouts every day. If you do this, then figure about 4 to 6 months to get the beginning of the body you are looking for.

about a month if you stick with your workout/protien shakes/diet
