Question: i heard that if you hold your hands in a praying position and open them up like a book, that's the size of you stomach so you should eat only what would fit in there. is this true?

i'm trying to decide on food portions for myself...

It's true that your stomach is the size of your fist.
but it stretches, so no you don't have to eat portions the size of your fist. if you're not very active, then yes, you should eat about 4-5 meals a day that size. but if you're active, you should eat about 5 fist-sized meals a day, along with as much veggies as you want, and protien packed snacks!! fruit is also a good idea.
note that you can always eat as much veggies as you want!! just watch out for fatty dressings!!

Most people overeat. You know when you are little and your parents say "finish everything on your plate"? Well that puts it in your mind, and you continue with that mentality. Most people eat way too much at one time, especially in restaurants. They serve enough for 3 people. It stretches your stomach and the excess calories turn to fat. So keep your portions smaller and eat good healthful good.

It doesn't seem true to me because it depends how OPEn you hold your hands. EAT! It's what you gotta do to stay a live! After all, it's not against the law! Just workout and exersise daily. Also, STAY HEALTHY! <3 I hope this helped!

how about this...eat slower and realize when you are full. You stomach will sometimes be too empty and sometime be too full. But what you want is a stomach that is not too full and not too empty. Just take you time to eat and realize when you need to eat...and choice healthy, low-fat foods.

Eat things that would fit in the volume of your fist. Not what you can hold in your fist but what would fit if your palm/fingers weren't there. You may think that it's not enough but if you eat several small meals a day, it works out.

* 3 oz. meat: size of a deck of cards or bar of soap
