Being only 12, I think it's important that you drink milk to help your bones grow and be strong, but I don't believe you need to take calcium (centrum) also. You are still young and need all the nutrition to grow up healthy, but I believe you should get it from natural sources. Centrum is supplement for those people who may have a condition or who are maybe allergic to certain foods/drinks that is their source or calcium. Trust me, you don't want to start taking supplements when your this young unless your doctor suggests it. When you get older, you're gonna have plenty of this in your life.
I've also heard (not sure from where) that adults shouldn't drink milk because their body doesn't need it anymore. It's just a part of life, look at anything in this world that is warm blooded like animals. They all bring up their young on milk, but once they are old enough to defend on their own and are adults, they cut them off the milk and rely on other things to get their nutrition.
I know it sounds crazy that I'm referring to animals about whether or not you should drink milk or not, but it's just something you have to look at, it's research really.
Anyway, when it comes down to it, keep drinking milk until you are done growing anyway, that way your body doesn't lack nutrition and you grown up healthy and strong.
Do some research if you're not sure, and even talk to your doctor about it.
Good Luck.

**** yeah its good

Milk is a very amazing drink in regards to what it can do for you. It does strengthen bones, though I haven't heard of it helping with nails or hair. It gives you many nutrients that you need that a vitamin just can't replicate.

drink it everyday, its healthy, better than soda and tea, stick with 1% or skim

milk is full of white blood cells(pus) that is why i no longer drink milk
Why do people drink for cow t*ts i find that rather digusting

It causes gas

Generally milk is very good for you. I love it, but, then, I grew up on a dairy farm.

The only thing you have to be careful of is that some races/ethnic groups have a gene that creates lactose intolerance when you reach puberty and then you can get sick from drinking milk. I don't know what these groups are, but you can google it.

Some calcium is good but you certainly don't have to get it from milk. That is just the propaganda of the dairy industry. If you are taking Centrum that alone should be enough. But you could also drink calcium-fortified orange juice or cereal once in a while, or green vegetables or beets or beans or soy products.

As for your hair and nails, they need protein, not calcium. You can get that from many different sources, including jello.

There is no reason an adult needs to drink milk. You should be getting your calcium from foods rather than supplements. The only things milk really provides is protein and vitamin D.

Look at this site near the bottom for high calcium non-dairy foods:

The reason milk is good for your bones is just the calcium and vitamin D, and you can get those from many other sources.

75% of American adults and 90% of adults in the world are lactose intolerant because we werent created to drink milk after infancy. It is not necessary.

I havent had milk for about 8 years and I am perfectly healthy. I do take a vitamin D supplement though because I am pale skinned and live in a cold climate.
