its just unnatural dont eat it

It hasn't been around long enough to really know the long term effects... Nutrasweet increases your chances of getting Alzheimer's disease, splenda is most likely not much different... as a rule of thumb sugar substitutes are more harmful than the sugar they are supposed to replace, but most of us use them anyway.

well i love splenda but my mom is RN and she told me we shouldnt eat it and it is actually better to use real sugar( cuz its natural i guess)

splenda is made from sugar, so out of all of the sweetenrs it is your best bet. It is best just to eat natural foods and not eat anything boxed or bagged! but if you do (and i love splenda) use it in moderation!

I don't have the scientific evidence, or any resource to prove that there is anything wrong with it. I do know that my personal physician (a good friend of mine) will not allow it in his house.

Once again, I dont know if there's anything at all wrong with it, but I keep away from it anyway for good measure. Better to avoid it all along, then to find out 30 years later that it's as bad as smoking cigarettes or something........

Even though Splenda has only been on the market a few years, it has been researched for over 25 years. It is made from sugar, a claim that can't be made by aspartame (Nutrasweet/Equal) or saccharin (Swee n Low). Truckloads of sugar go in the plant, and Splenda comes out.

They tweak the sugar molecule ever so slightly and your body doesn't recognize it something to digest. Plus, it's something like 600 times sweeter than sugar, and actually when you use the packets, most of that is "filler" because people would never believe how little of it you need to sweeten something.

Splenda is junk. When you eat any artificial sweetener, it has the same effect on your endocrine system as sugar. The body produces lots of insulin to lower your blood sugar levels from artificial sweeteners as it does real sugar. The only thing it does not provide is calories, but have you ever weighed a packet of splenda as compared to sugar? Please, it is just ridiculous to think that small amount of product will make any difference in your calorie count.

The natural product to use as a sugar substitute is Stevia. Over 25% of all the sugar product used in Japan is Stevia. It's been around for centuries and our FDA, to protect the manufacturers of the sweetener market substitutes is doing some kind of long range study on Stevia before they officially approve it. The FDA does not say not to use it, so it's legal. Big money is behind all this garbage.

Please understand that man has only had sugar in the diet for 400 years and only in the last 100 years, refined sugar. Agriculture has been around for over 12,000 years. NO primitive people had cavities, heart disease, or degenerative diseases like modern man in the last 100 years. The average American consumed less than 10 pounds of sugar in 1905. In 2005, the average American consumes over 190 pounds per year. In the average BIG GULP, there is approximately 1 pound of sugar. Is it any wonder that 53% of ALL Americans are chronically ill? Any child born in America after the year 2000 has a 35% chance of being diabetic. 35% of all American's born after 2000 will be diabetic. And people think the government can handle health care. What a joke.

Bottom line is that if you eat any sugar, sugar substitutes, etc. you run the risk of getting diabetes. The receptor cells in the cellular membranes that unlock the glucose door with insulin get fatigued from all this sugar that we were not designed to eat. Diabetes type II is epidemic now.

My suggestion is to eat NO sugar in your diet. Your body will suffer for it and you will become a statistic like most Americans and then be dependent upon drugs to give you a poor quality of life as you age.

It is better to eat Spenda and be at a healthy weight than to eat something different and be overweight. However, there are a number of websites that claim that spenda is dangerous because it causes an unnatural growth of organs in lab animals. There is no evidence though that is harmful to humans. As an alternative, you might research xylitol.

My father-in-law is a doctor and he uses splenda. He has also got my husband and I, plus several people at his hospital, using it now as well.
