My 14 year old daughter has really unhealthy eating habits and is overweight?!

Question: I come from a southern family (lots of fried and fatty foods) but have seen the error of my ways. She does not like my new way of cooking (skin off chicken, broiled or baked, plenty of veggies). I have to admit, my new cooking if lacking in flavor somewhat, so do you have any tips to spice it up for her and still stay healthy?

I think in order to make a big difference, you really need to lead by example. If you follow the new healthy lifestyle (walking/exercising) and encourage everyone in the house to adapt a healthy life style it will help. Also byshowing her how much better you feel and look, she might get incentive to follow too.

So turn off the TV and get out there for a walk/kick a ball around or shoot some hoops!

well she should just suck it up!!! your making healthy choices for your family!! so if she doesn't like it she doesn't have to eat!!! get her active if she's not..... like any sports she likes... or you guys could go to pilates classes together.... and do outdoor activties as a family

I'm lazy and I hate to cook (especially if it's healthy)... but, I have found ways around my own laziness, lol!

I like to make Pocket Chicken. You take a chicken breast and slice a "pocket" into it, then stuff it full of goodies. I like zucchini, squash, spinach, mushrooms, garlic, etc. Pretty much anything you want. I've experimented with using salsa, applesauce, lemons, orange juice, and beer as my marinade/sauce.

One of my most healthy favorites that was a big hit with my pizza loving husband was the following:

I chopped up zucchini, portabello mushrooms, spinach, yellow squash, tomatoes and baby corns (because they're so cute!). Then I dumped them all in a pan with some applesauce and some salt and pepper. Once the veggies were a little bit cooked, I stuffed them inside the chicken breast (and added a little more applesauce). Then I rolled the breast up in some tinfoil. Bake for 45 minutes or so in a 450 degree oven. Done. When you dump it on a plate, just add a dinner roll and you're done.

I like to pre-prepare these things on Sunday (did I mention I'm lazy?) so all I have to do during the week is turn the oven on, stuff, wrap, shove in over, and dump. My husband thinks I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, lol!

sprit some lemon juice on the chicken or add some fruit salads to your meals.
